2. I have given them a try nice pickups! The CC pickup in the neck position is a particularly cool pickup. I'm not a fan of Lollars across the board, but they make certain pickups that do it for me. The Heritage H535 P90 that Kuz sold me has a particularly good set of Lollar P90s which generally I never liked before, buit these pickups changed my mind about Lollar P90s... My Teye La Perla has custom made for Teye Lollar low wound Imperials and I LOVE them...
3. Would you show any of his handwrittings or signature off his built Heritages?
4. Yesterday
5. Damn! Nice find!
6. I bet Marv built tons of Heritage guitars along with the other owners. And other builders. good luck documenting any of them I recognize his handwriting on a lot of labels
7. there was a 225 parsons st model too Did the eagle have a model #?
8. I used 0.011s on my ‘94 H-550. They were pretty slinky but still drove the guitar well. Lots of punch.
9. For the record, Heritage ships their archtops with 12s on them. I, personally, would be a little concerned putting that much tension on the top with 14s. Vince Lewis, a jazz master and Heritage endorser, uses 11s and 10s on his Sweet 16s.
10. The headstock repair looks to be a pretty solid and clean job, too! Nice score!
11. Must be a pretty stiff neck to jump two guages without a tweak. Fantastic.
12. Apparently that was me… but it wasn’t I who disagreed with you, it was my big dumb clumsy scrolling thumb that took the low road there. My apologies; was not intentional. This has been rectified and replaced with a much more appropriate up vote; my fingers will be punished to the fullest extent of whatever my imagination can come up with for a witty and clever finger specific punishments. My thumbs laugh in the face of truth and physics.
13. They made 40 of these.
14. I know he was involved in the H-157 staple single coil model. I think they made a few dozen.
15. Next time go to 20s!!
16. I own its twin. It sounds as great as I could want.
17. Nope. Plays like a dream.
18. I have no doubt that the build qualify is top notch, my beef is only with the cosmetics. My 575 and my Florentine Golden Eagle were (to my eyes) GORGEOUS. Again, my only beef with the H 717 is the cosmetics. I am sure it is an amazing built and exceptional sounding guitar. To me, this is what a classy jazz box should look like.....
19. Did they explain why they chose 717 as the model #? So far, numerical prefixes have been 1,3,5 No 7's until now? any others? why no 2,4,6's? I can maybe understand why no 2's or 4's. Avoids all the 2x4 jokes
20. Did you have to tweak the truss rod?
21. Nice Tele Kitty! I've never tried the BG1400 with a P90 because I record alot around computer monitors so I like noiseless Teles, but I bet that combo sounds great! My main Tele, which I built, has a Tyson Tone Lab Precious and Grace humbucker in the neck, and the BG`1400 in the bridge. The body is an Allen Eden Body made from Paulownia wood, and it's light as a feather. It's the best Tele that I've ever owned and one the best Teles I've ever heard. It's the one that really got me into the BG1400...
22. For years I’ve strung my H550 with Thomastik GB Flatwound 12s. They are expensive but last 3-4 times other strings and sound great, always. Very easy playing, consistent and great tone. I use 14s on my Super KB, but have never tried 14s on the 550 because the 12s sound so good, warm, round but also a little sweet. Very 60’-70’s jazz archtop. The band digs it. I went to change out the old 12s for a new set today….But…i was out of the 12s. Never thought to put 14s on the 550; that was all i had and the old strings were already half off. So….14s went on the 550. Wow. What a difference! The guitar sounds bigger in every way. A little darker, fuller and just more. I was really surprised that it made that big a change in fullness and voice of the guitar. Not as effortless to play, but not a huge change in fretting or picking force required, just takes a little more oomph all around. 14s will stay on and maybe be the norm for this 550 from now on. Gig on Friday, so we’ll see…
23. Nice!
24. Last week
25. Howdy i was just thinking how lucky will we be able to find a Marvin lamb built H150 or H157 ? Any clue if we are on the hunt ? Does he particularly built a handful batch of these H150s or 157s? And which year was it are we looking at?
26. At the moment, this is my LP type. It's a MIC Burny LPC. It's also better than most LP's I've played, including Gibsons and some Heritage. I put a set of Gibson T-Type pickups in it. I love this guitar. Steve Hackett tours with these. If they are good enough for him, they are good enough for me. I'll get another H-150 at some point. But now is not the right time.
