Scooter Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 The Alex Skolnick is available now. Was just browsing the Wolfe site and there it was. Beautiful.
Scooter Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Here's a couple more picks of different Skolnicks:
SouthpawGuy Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I'm not sure that they are out yet ? Looks like an announcement of the model on the site. No pics of the headstock with signature or the 12th fret inlay.
tulk1 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Well, except for them weighing a ton. And being strung with 13's!! ... those are very nice. Especially that OSB.

Still exciting and GAS inducing.
Scooter Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 That's a beauty. What pickups are in this model? JB in the bridge and '59 in neck.

shook494 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Holy crap! I'm diggin this new Skolnick. I'm actually surprised the deal was done.
brentrocks Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 i saw #1 and #2 before they left the shop...this was months ago...they were pretty impressive!!! but VERY HEAVY!!!!
mars_hall Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Heavy is good except in some women! As my East German buddy used to say talking about the old nude heifers swimming in the Baltic, "Sometimes not so beautiful"
tulk1 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 It says you have a choice of a light or a heavy body for the Skolnick. Nice to have choices! Scoot, Just going by the vid posted about his rig. He mentions that he prefers the heaviest woods they can find. I just made the leap that his Siggy would be the same. Yeah, good to hear there's a choice. So ... wonder what makes his siggy model any different from any other 150. We always have the choice of pickups. So, except for the signature truss rod cover (mentioned in the vid), just looks like a real pretty 150.

Boy, I'll Say..Especially the OSB version..A chambered version would be awesome..That is why I still miss my old LP BFG..It was chambered, and had a nice P-90 in the neck position..Great woody down and dirty blues tone

I'd like to get a 150, but would rather get a regular one and switch pickups out if that would be something I'd like to do. But I definitely think it's cool that somebody some people know is getting a signature Heritage; and from a different genre. Nice to see The Heritage name a little in the public eye (along with the other Heritage players of repute, of course).

I was seriously considering one of those just before I met Heritage last February. Those, to me, actually looked extremely cool. I think the Gary Moore one is probably out by now, too (don't know for sure). How cool is that, though: a LP with a p-90 in the neck. Price was decent, too. Be cool if Heritage did something like that as a trial run.

Vince told me yesterday that his new signature model was 13 pounds! Traditional solid bodies Heritage makes are about 3 pounds lighter, if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, I think Alex is going to be in the factory pretty soon so I'm going to try and get a chance to see it up close
yngwie308 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 The Gary Moore models I have with Grovers and EMG's and associated electronics and battery are indeed heavy, but they sound so great, I think they were in the close to 11 pound range last time I crudely weighed them, heavy for a stage guitar, but I don't play on stage and have it strapped on for 90 mins or so, so not a problem to me. Weight is relative, some light guitars sound amazing and other heavier guitars as well, so there is no golden rule, I think. yngwie308
GuitArtMan Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Excuse my ignoarance but how is it different than a H-150 - other than being over weight?
chico Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 how many are going to be made in the run? even at 13lbs seems like it would be as good as putting $$ into a 401K. Love that OSB, and no pickguard.
tulk1 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Excuse my ignoarance but how is it different than a H-150 - other than being over weight? It has his signature on it?
Kuz Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Signature, heavier, and looks like an upgrade wood package. I think you guys have figured it out though (it' just a heavy 150. But "Sshhhh" don't tell anybody). I guess if you are a Alex S. or Gary Moore fan then you would really want one of these "signature" guitars. Me, I am more than happy with these "signature" guitars .... "Sean Costello" signature 150 "Peter Green" signature 150 "T-Bone Walker" signature 525 "Larry Carlton" signature custom 555 I think you get my point.......
barrymclark Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 i saw #1 and #2 before they left the shop...this was months ago...they were pretty impressive!!! but VERY HEAVY!!!! Skolnick was a huge inspiration to play guitar for me in the mid 80's. I am not one for signatures, but this one... this one I would get. It doesn't seem to have his name scrawled all over it. I rather like that. Just a simple S on the 12th marker.

Although, if I were to play it regularly, I would probably end up taking the JB and 59 out and putting EMG's. So... would be kinda pointless to get such a specific guitar just to strip it of the electronics meant for it. haha.
