  2. Yeah, I LOVE HRW's. Can't get enough of them! Such clarity and definition. As for Schallers: I've always wondered why so many don't like them? I've never had a problem with them. I always have to laugh when I read something has been "upgraded." Based on what? Price? Opinion? It's ALL opinion. Some people like chocolate ice cream, some don't. That doesn't mean replacing chocolate with vanilla is necessarily an "upgrade", it's just your preference and opinion. At the end of the day, plug the guitar in and if you like it you're good, if you don't move on to another guitar. There is no good or bad, just preference.

  4. That's a beautiful instrument. It looks like it has a rose natural finish. I'll bet this nice instrument is an example of why Johnny left Heritage. Johnny wanted black hardware and a floating pickup. As best I could tell, the first few years that's how they were made. Aaron Cowles did the tap tuning on these. He got the plates and took them to his shop. Heritage later did the the rest of the top. I've had an x-topped Heritage get a mounted pickup put in. It cut into the bracing some but was still stable. Here's Aaron in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsCIAboHDeI I don't want to rain on a parade here, but I don't get why someone would take a tap tuned top and mount a humbucker on it if that was the plan from the get-go. But I did that once on a used instrument and was happy with the result. The HRW in the neck position sounds very good and a bit sparkley. I heard Henry Johnson and Kenny Burrell play with that setup. I had a HJS long ago that I took to Heritage to ask a couple of questions and get a tone pot put in. Ren Wall talked with me a while and said he'd put the extra pot in. He let me watch. It took about 15 minutes on his work bench. When he drilled the pickguard he had me point to where I wanted the new pot. After he was done, I asked him what I owed him. $15! I like the finish and the gold hardware on yours.

  5. these pics give a little better sense of the color and the nice layout. some good user friendly details: bias points and pot on the back panel, tube dampening rings on the tubes, 2 4ohm outputs so i can add another cabinet (looking forward to trying that.)...Dylana Nova Scott founder and still tinkering owner of 3rd Power knows her stuff and what musicians need. I believe she's got a patent on the Hybrid Master. Really good feature, very useful. I'll pull the back off and post some interior shots later.

  6. I just turned 71, and I'm going out with my tube amps! For whatever reason I have absolutely no interest in buying a modeling amp.

  7. Or, should that be New Amp Doubleday? It's been so long since I posted anything here I've forgotten much of the protocol. The amps are a Henriksen Blu 10 and a Swart Atomic Jr. One sounds really nice for an arch top, say a 575 and the other is a fun little gadget for say a 535. Probably you can imagine which is which.
