I grew up in the Milwood area of Kalamazoo, MI, attending Kalamazoo Public Schools and Western Michigan University before being drafted into the U.S. Army for two years, spending one year in Vietnam with the Fourth Infantry Division (81mm. mortars). I was inspired to take up the guitar after seeing and hearing Scotty Moore with Elvis Presley, then seeing/hearing B.B. King, Jimmy Dawkins, and also Jim McCarty with the Detroit Wheels, along the musical road. There are now many guitarists whose music I enjoy including: Jimmy King; W.C. Clark; Otis Rush; Bobby Radcliff; Buddy Guy; Ronnie Earl; Jimmy Johnson; Eddy Clearwater; Tinsley Ellis; Bobby Parker; Son Seals; Carl Weathersby; Smokey Wilson; T-Bone Walker; Dave Specter; Luther Allison; etc.
