What happened to all the used Heritages here?
hopkinwfg replied to rwinking's topic in Heritage Guitars
Many of the older pieces seems to get more value i guess? Not too sure but many have said the newer pieces are better build vs the older.... as far as we know there are a handful of peeps here whom still swear by the older pieces despite of the shorter neck tenon but its the handbuild spirit whom the guys sought after for.... I currently own two new era H150s and am looking to trade my oxblood H150 for a H157 in natural in pristine condition .... do hit me up too here haha... -
Thats true .... i was just about to tell here when i think of it about the stickier veil that layover a blank of resonant wood as it could have some dampening effect than a thinner non stickier veil covering over.... perhaps tone are a thing whom we cant pick up over a certain degree when played even over a period of time untill we capture its frequency peaks or record them up for a close side by side comparison...

Thanks alot on the advise here... i certainly like to start slow and gently taking off some micro inches off the front sides back and neck first... it could be a rabbit hole whom am trying to yield... Have owned few of the very nice Jackson soloist and they were polyurethane finished all three sound relatively similar within their own make... The Gibsons on the other hand are more resonant (thats obvious) and within those R8 and R9 i own has the same openess resonant thick mids only my R8 sounded abit warmer darker than the R9 i got which i suspect of my 2008 R8 that has a madgascar rosewood due ... As comparison sets in here i dont know if the guys out here do experience the same tone adventure within the Heritage H150s to sound more or less similar on its resonance and tonality it produced when played acoustically ?

Hahah thanks for your concern... unfortunately no i didnt have a polishing wheel but i didnt want it to be anywhere as polish either... good advise is .... yes just how much can i knock the finishes down... just wanna know if anybody has done it

I cant imagine how thin the sanding goes on the RI 1959 Gibson but owning a two of 2006 and 2008 R9 and R8 i could see its finishing is very thin .... Gibson RI still has that loud high mid resonant sound where the Heritage H150 newer era has a slight less mid resonant i just thought so it could probably be the finishes.... not sure what the Heritage new era finishes reciepe be.... i would also note that and like to know how different can these solid color H150 guitars can be different from those in burst colored with dyes vs solid color paint ie oxblood, black white etc.... i guess tone also contributed a vast difference between these two color schemes.... yet i have to submit my experience in sending down my 2001 RI 57 Black beauty to Starr guitars for a refinishing work and not only did the vos color in black turns out great in my opinion it also sounded very resonant too.... could it be the formula thingy between burst LP and solid colors applied ?

I like my 80s era duncan JB on the bridge of my H150 so far... didnt like the gibson 495T and R i put in... regretted buying that set imo these are way overdone compresses way more but the 495R is pretty fat and sweet !! Yet i would wanna slap in an old 80s 59s see how it goes.... I do have a H150 CC too which comes in with their 225 parson pickups which is low output, i pretty much getta hang of it too.... am weary that these humbuckers are relative of what the gibson Custombuckers are offering, but i have not tried side by side comparing the 225 parson pickups vs gibson custombuckers..... are they really same? Or have their each character?

Does anybody whom sand down their H150s finishes thinner? I realised the H150 on my oxblood has kinda thicker finishes... i was wonder if i could knock down its finishes wet sanding down mine by abit could have a better tone letting the wood breathe abit better ?

Nice semi hollow there... but would still like to seek some of the advise off from Faber bridge users out there... Cause Heritage uses the tailpiece stud well with thread size SAE 5/16-24 but Faber tailpiece screw post adopt M8 x 1.25 non SAE thread.... did some reading if am not wrong these size can fit but it be kinda loose .... Do you guys also swap out the tailpiece stud well to Faber matching type or just retain the stock Heritage SAE 5/16-24 stud well?

Pics .... cant wait to polish up the guitar install the 498T, strung up and hear the glorious tone... !

Howdy peeps !! Finally gotten the abrn locking bridge set and tailpiece by Faber !! It just look more of an LP accurate ! But one thing is the installation isnt as smooth as what it thought so for me .... after my first installation i found the bridge locking stud on one side being unable to fit in and screw in as the pole piece was too far off centered... tried hammering to sort of bend the post slightly and Ops... the upper threaded portion of the post broken off.... did a tap in screw thread and took off that stucked post well.... Contacted Faber and he was kind enough to send me a set of new stud.... and just gotten it fixed its looking great now..... Larry Corsa is a kind guy to deal with as his business ethics is worth enough mentioning... !! Anyway just after i gotten the Faber ABRN bridge i just caught a crazier boutique bridge call 4 uncles restorations..... does anybody know if they offer ABRN replacement ? The Nashville instead of the ABR-1 ?

Nice !!! And i remember back in 2015 or 2016... Jimmy wallace has gotta H157 in a very beautiful quilted top in sort of honey burst.... back in the time i was still kinda hesitant to getta LP guitar... till i got my first G black beauty and now i own many LP including the H150 oxblood and i be having a H150CC in tobacco sunburst soon....

That transblack just look coolest !!
-
Looks plastic just like what gibson offers.... i actually prefer the old H157 with the somewhat flame transblack pickguard...
-
So rad !!!
-
I guess the guys at Heritage should make a point to produce those whom they prefer a heavier side of their guitars... especially with LP type i personally fall for weight between 4kg to 4.5 or 4.6kg....

Justin derrico is a fantastic virtuoso...
