  1. I guess since Jim, Bill and Marv are still floating around somewhere, maybe the best way would be to ask one of them. Any of you K'zoo folks have a connection?
  2. That's certainly a walk down memory lane!!!
  3. I'm thinking that the H-150 came as a succession of numbers. In the early years, there was the H-110, H-120, H-140, then H-150. Maybe the H-100 and H-130 didn't make the cut?
  4. Wow, I never run across deals like that. I'm lucky if they have guitar strings as BOGO.
  5. SInce they were obviously in contact with Gary, I wonder if that was one of his "specs". There are people who like heavy guitars.
  6. I've used the rag trick to pull off the knobs on a few of my guitars. It works fine. Shoelaces would be just as good.
  7. That looks a lot like the wiring of the early Valco amps from the 50s and before.
  8. It looks really nice, but at 9lb 10oz, it's not for those "weak of back". I wonder of being #2 of 75 has any significance.
  9. I didn't realize that, but you're right. The Martin "flowerpot" inlay.
  10. My 87 H140 has a poker chip, and I've seen others from that era with the poker chip. It's easy enough to check on the pickups. They are mounted with a single screw, so being changed isn't beyond the realm of possibility. The pick guard looks like something Heritage would do if they were doing a custom guitar with fancy inlays. As for the Grovers, I have a 74 Guild with chrome Grover Rotomatics. They could easily be original. While I don't know how collectible it will be, I would think a $2500 to $3000 would be more appropriate, especially for someone who is a fan of Maudie's work. Stock H-140s go for $1500 to $2000.
  11. It was 1975. I wanted that orange Kawasaki. I had a old Fender Jag (like 10 years old!), and a new Guild S100. WHO needs two guitars? I can only play one at a time, and I like the Guild's sound better. As Tina Turner sang "what's love got to do with it?"
  12. I don't sell guitars. I buy guitars I want and keep them. So this is easy to answer - my 60s Jaguar! It was the last guitar I sold. I bought it for $200 used around 1969, and I sold it for $225 to buy a motorcycle in 1975. It wasn't the greatest guitar in the world, but I used that a lot when our band was very active. I've looked at some Jaguars, but the closest I can find is a Vintera 60s Jag. All the new Fenders are Kurt Cobains, Johnny Marrs, Players and the Vintera 70s which has the block markers. Alas, I can't find any pictures of it, but I remember it fondly.
  13. I had an original Vox wah back in the early 70s which somehow disappeared after a gig. I bought a CryBaby, which was essentially the same at the time. It's also disappeared over the years. About 20 years ago, I got a Vox 847 and it's still on my pedalboard. I've had more chorus type pedals than wahs. I wish I could find a really good Leslie simulator. I've the a Lester, MiniDeja Vibe2, H2O chorus, and played with a few others. The Lester was a disappointment. I've listened to a few others, and they just don't sound like the real thing to me.
  14. SWEET!!! I've always thought the Mille was one of Heritage's best guitars.
  15. I've got #22 of the 2000 Limited Edition. Alas... it's not for sale.
  16. I always thought the spray booth was a fire waiting to happen. The new booth pretty much guarantees that you won't be getting stray dust or bug on your freshly sprayed nitro. I don't know that they felt the retail shops should be doing fretwork, but I think they tried to set things up to a rough "standard" and if the buyer wanted the action adjusted, the shops were supposed to do it. But some of the nut slotting could have been better years ago.
  17. IF you watched the video I posted earlier, you can see how Heritage did the fretboards.
  18. No cyano... I'm 99% sure the plastic is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), the same as the binding itself. It's the same plastic as used for things like Legos. It's totally soluble in acetone. They dissolve the plastic in the solvent and it becomes an excellent adhesive. Cyanoacrylates can be tricky to work with since they cure almost immediately, and are difficult to clean up if there's any problem. Shelf life is short. It's great for quick touchups where you only need to adhere a small area. For doing bindings for hours at a time, the ABS/Acetone is much better to work with.
  19. I don't have a "need" for the nibs, except that they do make the edges of the frets much less dangerous. The perfectly rounded edges of the frets of my Melancon T are great. If I was to have one of my Heritages refretted, it would probably be with nibless stainless steel frets. However, at my age, I doubt I'll ever wear out the frets of the guitars I have.
  20. My H140 is unbound, so no nibs on the fret ends. My 157, 535 and Millennium all have nibs although the 535's binding appears to be thinner than the 157 and Millennium, so the nibs aren't as apparent. The Millennium is a 2000, my 157 is 2003 and the 535 is a 2005. I think pretty much all Heritages with bound fretboards have the nibs on the fret ends. They have a device that cuts the binding down after it has been put on the sides. Here's a video of them doing fretboards and binding nibs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjz0tX9q5t8 The binding should not be inside the actual fretboard. The frets should be right to the edge of the wood, then the binding is applied later.

There is actually a copy of the movie in the Internet Archive. It says it's the UK version. Vanishing Point - Internet Archive.

Vanishing Point - 1971 A weird kind of movie, where the "hero" is supposed to deliver a Dodge Challenger to California. Of course, he's doing it at Cannonball Run speeds, so the cops are chasing him across the desert. The final scene has them pulling a pair of bulldozers into the road to stop him, which is the last pic that Bolero posted.

It was actually the radio station that triggered it for me. I really don't remember the pics of the Green Frog Grocery, or Ray's beer joint. But I remember SuperSoul talking to Kowalski over the radio, trying to get him home. Also, Delaney and Bonnie were doing gospel music out in the desert with the snake handler. As for the beer... make mine A&W! ?
