602a Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Are the tops on 150 and 140 gold tops 1 or two piece? Do the gold tops play or sound Different. I always see they cost more.
Guest mgoetting Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I'll take a stab at this. Someone who knows can mop up the mess I make. Both the 140 and 150 can have single piece caps but they are usually split. We tend to gawk at the single piece specimens more and value them. So it's hard to imagine that Heritage would cover a single piece top with any opaque finish unless there are cosmetic flaws in the wood. So my guess is the tops are split in most cases. There should be no difference in tone. The seam is a tiny part of the surface area of the top. Caution: Tone is where we leave science and enter religion and politics.
Kuz Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Yes, we are just talking about the maple cap on top. Both of my 150 Gold Tops have one-piece bodies.
yoslate Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Caution: Tone is where we leave science and enter religion and politics. Hilarious!
mark555 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Old British saying : Never discuss religion or politics.... Tone though!! Very funny
