Guest mgoetting Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 We may have hit rock bottom in prices. I've never seen deflation like this. H157 that sounds like it is in excellent shape: $1000 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT Yesterday someone told me about a H555 that was advertised for $1250 in great condition for a month on a website. The purple Millie on Ebay has less than a day left with a single $1000 bid. http://cgi.ebay.com/2001-Heritage-Millenni...=item35ac0b287b A new H170 sold for $1375. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT A natural top H157 sold on Ebay a couple of weeks ago for $1100. It's not just Heritage. It's the entire market that's soft. The market should correct in the future. So this is not a good time to sell and is the best time to buy, if you are so inclined.
PHILIP Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Yes you are rite as the economy now is struggling, Real Estate market has not recovered, many people upside down, there are more foreclosures than any one knows what to do with, only cash buyer speculators can buy the foreclosures, as the banks unwilling to lend now, they went full circle of lending to any body who would apply for a mortgage even people who were not citizens or residents of the USA. As we are all aware job market is not good now, So uncertainty in the economic future, people having less disposable income and low consumer confidence, adds up to lower prices and deflation, Lets hope things get better next year!
FredZepp Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 It's been a tough market for a while.. ... and we witnessed the masses going to Craigslist and eBay to liquidate some items.. But with more people selling and fewer buying, selling prices have been very attractive. And it is hard not to grab some of the obvious bargains that we are now seeing....
golferwave Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Everything is down in value right now and it's not just our Heritage guitars. Mint condition Gbrand LP Standards are going cheap on ebay right now. About half of what they sold for new. It's a great time to buy if you have funds, but a terrible time to sell if you need cash. Hope it turns around soon.
TalismanRich Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I was looking at a Zion Fifty on Ebay a while back. They wanted 1200 for it and it never sold. It's up right now for $900 and had a BIN for $1150. One bid at 900. Anyone here ever played a Zion? It's Mary Kay white with the marble guard and maple fretboard. Looks very nice. I've read some good things about Zion, but never met anyone who had one or played one.
smurph1 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I've heard good things about Zion..Maybe I should've bought a used 535 instead..NAH!!! only kidding..
zookroo1 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I have a Zion which is from the early 90's (I think). It was my first guitar and I got it used for cheap because someone had traded it in and it was really dirty and needed a setup. I thought it looked cool so I got it. I'd say Zion is a great company and makes some really nice guitars. Mine has a fast neck and gets a pretty good variety of sounds. There are a few pretty good videos people have on YouTube playing there Zions I think (if not on YouTube, they're out there somewhere...) I don't have a ton of experience, but I think you can compare them with the Suhrs and Andersons out there.
mark555 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 When a product wont sell, the store owner just wants to get his money back, hence now and again we will see products at cost or below. I agree with Patrick, we've had the rest of the discussion before and only recently. Lets just be glad we are playing beautiful guitars bought at great prices, and let the world go and buy what ever they want. By the way Mark, your new guitar is the business!

FredZepp Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Ok, here,.. if it makes us all feel better, I'll sel my 150 custom for 3458.99 That IS a special guitar.... and a great strategy to raise the ASP ( average selling price ) Regarding the sale prices.... Sometimes in business , it's just nice to move some old inventory... cash is king.

Have gone to 2 guitar shows in the last two weeks (Elgin & Indy), and those dealers wouldn't budge at all from their pre-recession prices. They were bringing a lot that they were selling back to their shops after the show. Thought that the idea of a show was to sell or trade gear that you bring from the store, and to pick up a few nice guitars that come in during the show. Couldn't tell you how many times I heard them tell people that they couldn't use what they were trading in.- Charles Bevell

The same high priced, pre-recession mentality seems to pervade most Gbase retailers also.
