Yup, its here...man is it sweet!  I got lucky, its only 9 lbs!  Very comfortable on the shoulder.  I must say that i was surprised by the color...i expected a very bright amber like Jorgen's H 170.  It is a "rootbeerish" amber, i like it, its unique.

The neck has a very similar carve to my 170s...not too fat, not too wide.  I'm not sure if it is Brazilian roserood or not?  I cant tell?  The fret wear is very minimal.

There are a few battle scars on it, but nothing terrible.  I was able to get the action quite low after i did a string change.  The truss rod works well too.

I checked to make sure there was a fresh batt. for the EMGs, there was some old foam they had wrapped the 9V in that was starting to fall apart, so i wrapped the batt in a piece of bubble wrap.  All the electronics function perfectly.

Then i cranked it up!  The EMGs are really bright.  But with high gain and the sonic maximizer, it sounds really chunky!!!!  Flipped over to the neck and it warmed right up, nice and rich, a little muddy...good blues tone!

It has been played, there is doubting that, but it certainly wasn't abused.

I like it!  I'm glad i got it

Yeah. I, myself, have been fooling around, nearly abandoning my wife and family - instead to be seen in the street ,holding hands with this gorgeous redheaded 170, who used to be yours  ;D

Jamming today with the band it turned out, that the 170 had it's own distinct, sophisticated sound, especially with the bridge pup on. Very nice for bluesrock/soul kind of things.

Yes, I'm in love with my guitar too

Oh Yeh!  Love the matching pickguard.  Wow - you're really working the trades on the net.  Nice pics, too.

Nice purchase, Brent! You sir, are a certified Heritage guitar wh()re!  :P

Nice!  Is it a keeper?

Haven't heard any comments on the weight - You were a little worried, I seems to recall?

But then again - when you're in love, nothing really matters  ;D ;D

I notice that brent has gone offline.

I wonder why ?  ;D

Probably on the second verse of Parisienne Walkways right now

Something like this

i love his tone on the intro and the solo...i need to learn some thin lizzy riffs too ;D

Congrats!  I am extremely jealous, being a big Thin Lizzy fan!!  Soundclip?  I was always curious as to how a Heritage would sound with EMG's.  Any comparisons?

They had some of the BEST licks going. Huge Thin Lizz fan. One of my biggest influences. That beautiful GM should cover the bases. You might need a Marshall to crank it thru, tho'. Hey, one of those 18 watters ought to do just fine!

Thanks guys ;D

It is a lot brighter sounding than the 170s...that is the biggeest difference that i noticed right away.  I'm sure there are other subtle differences, but to un untrained ear like mine, i dont really notice.

Think we have a lot of members here, who shares the same kind of taste in music  ;D

I especially liked the classic days of Lizzy (where Gary Moore infact had skipped the band and was replaced with Scott Gorham and Brian Roberts) because of the mass of double solo's. I played in a coverband once (back in the late '80) who did a lot of Lizzy stuff.

Back to guitars - The difference between my 157 (schaller pup's) and 170 (SD pup's) can be heard in the 157's powerfull attitude and very long soustain (it takes a lot of space in the over all soundpicture in a band) , where the 170 has a more narrow but still very notably sound , which suits the overall sound of a band. It's nearly like the difference between the LP and the SG (that is, from the OLD days of G***********n's).

I can get easily my 157 to sound like the git-setup in Zep, Free, Bad comp, Foreigner  - with the few days I've had my 170, I have reach something like AC-DC and Sanatas fat solo sound. When playing some Stevie Winder and Marvin Gay-stuff yesterday, the 170 just fit's all kind of soul/funk stuff.

The pups in that 170 are definately powerful!  i thought they were very clear and full, a little on the bright side.
