602a Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Can anyone tell me if the older ones are any good or was this a test guitar?
FredZepp Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 The H-140 was the first guitar to be produced by Heritage, just after Gibson left Kalamazoo. They are exceptional guitars . Great design combined with handmade attention to detail and the finest woods. I love mine , it's a 1989 in trans cherry finish. I love old Heritage guitars... and ... I love new Heritage guitars. They never fail to make a top quality guitar.

FredZepp Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I was talking about the ones with the vari-phase system. I know the 140's are great but I don't know anything about this model Oh, I see.... I haven't heard of anyone not liking the extra tone options in the wiring. It makes the 140 even more versatile. They can be more work to repair if someone has messed up the wiring, but barring that, it enhances the guitars abilities. Hopefully we hear from someone that has one....
Guest mgoetting Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 It's a plus to have the VIP toggles. Another option is to have the pots converted to push/pulls. I've had them both ways, and both work well.
cod65 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I would like to hear a clip of the vari-phase option myself, not really understanding what it is
FredZepp Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Here is what Heritage says about how the older VIP works.... (it does coil taps and out of phase) Instructions for : Older Single VIP 3 Controls and 3 mini switches. One Master Volume (left) One Master Tone Control (right). One upper Single VIP ( Var-i-Phase control). On 10 = in-phase, on "0", = out-of-phase. The only time this works, is when the 2nd and 3rd mini switches are down. Looking down at the switches in the playing position, the switches are numbered 1,2,3. #1 up = coil tap for neck pickup. 2 & 3 down = VIP for bridge pickup. 2 & 3 opposite each other = stand-by (dead), or both coils. 2 & 3 both up, = coil tap for bridge pickup.
