lifewithasong Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Hi All, I just received a beautiful OSB H575 after years of searching for greener pastures (and finding none). Back in 1996, I got my first (used) H575 for 800.00! Foolishly, I sold it in that quest for "better that we all go through. Then I bought a used Golden Eagle a couple of years later--then sold it why? Anyhow, now I've come back with an H575 that I just love. One thing I've noticed, however, is that the case--while it is a Heritage case--seems to be too large, as if it's made for one of the larger models. Does anyone here know about getting an after-market case that will fit the 575? Any recommendations? Thanks, Greg

It's Chinese made I think, and incredibly strong but compared to the TKL case that came with my H535, the Proline is bulky and very, very heavy. I would recommend the TKL cases though. Cheers, Greg F
FredZepp Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Welcome to the HOC, Greg.... It sounds like you've had your hands on a couple of good ones and have now found one that you're really bonding with. Oh, and I bet there are a lot of folks here that would love to see a pic (or two) of it..... We do love to see some Heritage pics.. Enjoy the site...
golferwave Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Hi Greg, Welcome to the HOC! The 575 is a great model. There are aftermarket cases that will fit just fine. A genuine Heritage case is probably available if you check with some Heritage dealers. Good luck!
Steiner Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Greg -welcome to the collective and more specifically, the 575 club! You have chosen well and I agree with you: there are no greener pastures out there. The OEM Heritage cases are TKL brand. I like golferwave's suggestion of checking with Heritage dealers. In the interim, perhaps you could show a photo or two of that new girl you've acquired...
lifewithasong Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks Guys. I'll try and get some photos up over the next day or so. In the meantime, would any of you mind posting a link for the TKL cases with the model that might be the one that fits? Thanks for all the welcome--I look forward to spending some more time here!
ronalr Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Welcome to the HOC and the 575 club!!...great guitar you have there...congratulations.....
smurph1 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Welcome Greg..Many Happy (Heritage) returns!!
cod65 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I got my lefty 575 without a decent case a couple yrs ago. Ended up buying an used Hofner case on ebay, after a bit of a search and measuring the upper /lower bouts and depth/ length. Works great for 50$ if I did it again , and had the cash I would go for the TKL case. I think 175/575 measurements are interchangeable. maybe try calling Heritage? the best would be to have the TKL with 'the heritage' painted on the outside
Gitfiddler Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Welcome to the club, Greg. TKL makes a great case, as mentioned previously and contacting a Heritage dealer might give you a good lead as well. Another option is to contact archtop.com. they sell new cases just for archtops. lifewithasong Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Thanks Guys! After having the guitar in the shop for a couple of weeks for a new nut and electronics tune-up (including replacement pickups), I snapped a couple of photos this afternoon so that you could have a look at it: I must say that I am quite impresed and completly happy with this guy--so much acoustic response that it's really been surprising. And this one is far better that that beautiful one on Ebay that I bought and had to ship back due to a sunken top. It just plays itself. This one is definitely a keeper. And by the way--I'm getting one of those Seagull TRIC cases for it--the dreadnaught model fits it perfectly. Greg
jazzrat Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Nice Guitar! That's interesting about the Tric Cases fitting. I really like the stock case but it's heavy. The Tric would be way better than a bag but with the same convenience.
FredZepp Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Thanks for the pics, Greg... . awesome, It is so cool that you have had it fine tuned and now have a keeper..
tulk1 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 So, what pickups? Or did I miss that? And who smashed your switch tip? It's all flat on one side ... well, two sides.
lifewithasong Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Kenny, I ended up ordering a set of the Parsons Street PAF-style pickups from Stew Mac. Alnico II at the neck and Alnico V at the bridge. Loving them so far. As far as the switch tip, I tried making a Steve Howe-style tip out of a tab from an old set of blinds + a bit of unbleached bone. Sanded the original black tip down flat on both sides to fit inside the tab so it would thread. Don't know if I'll keep it, but it's fun to tinker for a custom look. Got a replacement tip from Stew Mac in case I want to "switch" back. So, what pickups? Or did I miss that? And who smashed your switch tip? It's all flat on one side ... well, two sides.
