Hi guys, Shawn here.

Long time lurker. Actually was a member a long time ago, but changed my email so long ago couldnt get back in.....I turned 40 last year, and cant remember a damn thing!

Many years ago, I owned a Heritage version of the LP custom. It was a "nice" guitar, but I will be honest. It was somewhat stiff playing, the fretwork was questionable at best, the pickups at the time were awful, and it weighed about 40 pounds. In reality, I moved on from Heritage and considered it a learning lesson.

Fast forward to present. I was yapping with the owner at a local shoppe, and I picked up a Heritage H137 to mess with. It was still heavy, but with the addition of Lollars, MUCH better fretwork, and superb tone, it came home with me. Although I collect this www.charvels.com (my site), I am also a sucker for the LP special, doublecut type vibe, and P90's are like the Stanley Cup playoffs to me......Have many guitars of the "G" variety in that flavor.

I do have somewhat of an issue though, and hopig to cull some knowledge here.

The bridge that this came with is a bit wonky. And it has a lean.

Is it supposed to have it?

Is there some way to rectify it?

Can I just replace it with a Pigtail, and will that drop right in?

Do I need new posts?

Also, my tuners are soewhat loose as well. They are supposed to be adjustable, anyone know how thats done?

I sure would appreciate the help. Not my normal photography, but it will have to do in a pinch. I look forward to contributing here.

Thanks!

there should be no play where the bridge sits on the posts. it looks like yours is miss matched, ie the bracket on the posts that accepts the bridge is too wide

should look like this

Oh and this is what one of my regular babies looks like

HI Shawn, a big welcome to you, very nice PRS, private stock? It is very unusual for a new Heritage to leave the factory with something so incorrect, maybe your dealer can help? Otherwise, a very nice guitar.

Hi Shawn, welcome to the club <_<

I'd agree that your dealer should rectify this for you as it's a new guitar (as a matter of interest could you tell us what the serial number is please?). If you have no luck there, take a look at the Faber tailpiece kits - I think CVGuitars sells them online. They have posts which can be adjusted to 'pinch' the tailpiece quite tightly and that should be an inexpensive way of dealing with this. You can buy just the posts and this may be all you need.

You have good taste in guitars - I can see that from the pictures you've supplied. Don't lose faith in Heritage at this early stage: lots of us here have more than one and it's not just because we love the headstock :D

My Korina 137 came with the exact same tailpiece. No big deal just choose locking studs like tone pros, change out for a different bridge or both. I went with a wilkinson bridge and Farber posts. With the Faber posts you also lock in the string height via the washer sizes. There are many style bridges to choose from.

Thank you all so much for the help. And yes, thats a private Stock PRS..Amazing piece of work. COuld someone please link to the CV kit that would drop right in on this H137? Preferably one that is intonatable?

Thanks!

Many (all?) of the early ones were like that. They originally had the Pigtail wrap around bridge on the them, but used standard run of the mill studs and they all had that lean. I have the second one made and it originally had that same lean, but mine had the Pigtail bridge. Why the used the Pigtail bridge and standard studs is beyond me. Either get the Pigtail studs (close tolerance) or some TonePros or Faber locking studs.

I liked the Pigtail bridge, but my G string never rang clear with it. I was able to get some replacement saddles before Steve passed away, just never got around to replacing it to see if the problem went away as I've been happy with the TonePros bridge I swapped in.

www.CVguitars.com

Is the link to Larry Corsa and Farber parts in the usa. I used a combination of his locking studds and a tonepros as the Farber locks the tailpiece to the body and the tonepros locks to the stopbridge.

On another note, does anyone have a problem with the high E string being damn far on the fretboard? I find alot of muted notes on that string, where it flat out doesnt sit right on the board, almost off the board really.

I really dont mean to come on here and have issues, but it is what it is. if it didnt sound so good, I would have taken it back already and checked in again with Heritage in another 10 years...LOL

I would NOT do any modifications to the guitar myself. It will void the warranty.

Call your dealer>>>>> then call Heritage>>>>> then call your dealer telling them you called Heritage!!!!

AND SEND BOTH OF THEM THE PICTURES!!!!!

I am going to be honest here, because you were all helpful and honest with me. I took the guitar back to the dealer, and said flatly, I don't want it. It was a good sounding guitar, but the fretwork was so so, and the bridge was unacceptable. Not on a $1600 plus dollar guitar. Heritage should be ashamed they let a guitar out the door like that.

There's two important points about Heritage.

First, they make some of the best guitars in the country.

Second, when something slips through, they'll fix it.

I'm not aware of an exception.

I don't think you can ask for more.
