eljay Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 hello, all! i'm pretty hot for the split block fb inlays that H offers. lately, though, the split-parallelogram blocks found on G es-345 have caught my eye, too. does anyone know whether H can/will put these on a build? thank you for info, eljay

You got their tele#. Find out and let us know. Since you've brought up inlays. That was some trip watching fretboard binding and position markers being added during the PSPIII tour. And it seems that Heritage has brought the inlay work back in shop. At PSPII it was mentioned that they sent a lot of their work out to a plant in Tenn that specializes in working with MoP and Abalone. Doesn't seem to be the case, now. Or so I was told this year. It's all back in-house. How awesome is that? Next thing you know, they'll find that ON switch on the $10k coat rack.
Kuz Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have always liked traps and split blocks BUT I am partial to these....
GuitArtMan Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Trapezoids. You can quote me. Period. End quote.
big bob Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 im starting to really like to play without.
H Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 im starting to really like to play without. +1 I really like that look too but only with ebony boards. I quite like the Gretsch-style high markers too, the ones biased to the bass side of the fretboard.
barrymclark Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 For the more ornate inlays from Heritage, I like the split blocks the most. I, too, like the Gretsch thumbnail inlays. I like them so much, on my guitar design, I do something similar.
tulk1 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 im starting to really like to play without. My Oldhimerz is in full bloom today. Can't remember - what the heck is this guitar?? I want one ...... badly. No wait, badly would be my playing. I want one .... yeah, just want one. ............... but with traps.
jrfreed Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 +1 on blank ebony fretboards especially for a hollowbody jazz guitar. Clean lines and classic look For thinlines and semi's I dig the 60's style mini-blocks (who would thunk it eh?)

No wait, badly would be my playing. I want one .... yeah, just want one. ............... but with traps. If memory serves, this is a one-off, rhythm-style H575. I think it was billed by the retailer as a Sweet 16 though but the label inside said differently.
eljay Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 No wait, badly would be my playing. that's what folks at the Barn were saying . . . NOT. i'd love to play at yer level!
FredZepp Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 My Oldhimerz is in full bloom today. Can't remember - what the heck is this guitar?? I want one ...... badly. 575 Custom... BigBob..

big bob Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 And then ..sometimes , it's nice just to be a bit different... Abalone Heart. I've been waiting for those to show up... Stunning.. If you can't play naked, then by all means get dressed up...
kbp810 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 And then ..sometimes , it's nice just to be a bit different... Abalone Heart. I get a little weak in the knees each and everytime I see that Fred I nearly passed out at PSP when I saw it in person!

Thanks... yeah, it does grab your attention.. I should have put it in Vince's hands for a while ... but it was a busy day for all at PSP...

If memory serves me (and sometimes it doesn't) the MOP comes from Custom Inlay in Caneyville Ky. It takes special equipment to grind MOP and abolone safely. It's just about 30 miles west of where I work in Elizabethtown KY. One of these day's I should take a half day off and ride down there. Brian Englands Custom Inlay.
