kbp810
Anyone here agree with Ed on this? http://www.edroman.com/rants/les_paul_necks.htm The lesson appears to be "Your LP will break into little pieces. But, I'll be glad to sell you a new one or put a new top on your old one! Can't do a thing to make the headstock stronger, though." dan (okay, I realize Heritage and a few other quality git's were included in his example list...but) I think it's funny how he mentions never having to repair the headstock on LP "copies"... most all of the ones he listed are guitars that can be had (even new) for rather cheap. How many people do you know would spend hundreds of dollars to repair a broken headstock on a $200 epi?

I am not saying Ed doesn't know his stuff about repair and building. I believe he does. When I had Gibby fans come in with their concerns about headstock angles and how easy they break, I told them all the same thing, "Well, then, be careful." Clasped shut in a case when not being played and check, then double-check, the strap on the buttons to insure they aren't about to pop off. If you are prone to movement, straplocks. Accidents can happen to even the most careful, though.

I would think many of the copies (asian) aren't worth fixing and therefore, you don't here of them being fixed. It has to be worth fixing to get it fixed. Guest mgoetting
Here's a video Ed made. His personality shines through. The guitars are pretty. So there's another kind work. My parents taught me that if I can't say anything nice, I shouldn't say anything at all. I'm not so good at that most of the time. I believe if my parents knew Ed Roman, they wouldn't have let me play with him. They might have told me that Satan had his soul. They may have had a point there. Now that we've covered Ed, can we switch the subject to Stalin or Joseph Mengele?
Hfan
I came across a you tube clip on his site, he chops up a LP with a hatchet to save the neck and replace / upgrade the body, at the end of the clip, his Luthier empties a clip from a submachine gun into another Les Paul, pretty entertaining stuff. The clip is on this page : http://www.edroman.com/guitars/gibson/retops.htm
