They lost a transformer on their roof Thursday morning. It is still down. Bill said he doesn't know when it will be restored.

As always they have tons of great guitars in the wings there.

thanks for the update, Mark. It's good to know, b/c they're still working on my 137, and I guess, now it'll be delayed a day or two.

Doesn't look like you're too guitar deprived with that beauty of a 150.

I'm curious who runs the plant and who is in charge of sales and marketing?

I have two beautiful Heritage guitars. One of them, an H 155, is one in a million.

It looks like they could use a little help getting their product out there though. Is that the case, or are they at capacity?

Not a chance man. I'm done with that one!! I believe that we ran that one in a deeper hole than the many threads on the Heritage head stocks. I'm just sitting back and watching this developing discussion on another thread . . . . on the old South vs the old North. It's got the potential to be a real Neil Young vs Lynard Skynard type of a Donny-Brook.

Sorry guys! I didn't mean to open up a can of worms.

I'm looking for a project. I have 7 months left of a non compete agreement with a previous employer. I'm looking for something that I feel passionate about, and these guitars are one of those things.

Next May, I'm going back into my old field, but in the mean time, it would be fun to challenge myself a little.

Greg,

I see you're a banjo picker. Thats next on my list. Picked up a used Kentucky KM-855 mandolin a couple of weeks ago. Been putting lots of hours on it. Played violin for years, some of the scales and such are coming right back. Banjo is next. Looked at the GoldTone OB250 as an entry level banjo. Got any suggestions for a sub-$900 banjo to get started?

Hi Tulk1

Gold Tone has a pretty good reputation, for the money.

Take a look at BanjoHangout.org classifieds. You can search the classifieds by brand. I bought a nice Deering off there a few years ago, and I keep hearing that guys are getting a few bargains there.

As far as openbacks, Bart Reiter, Ramsey & Chuck Lee are the names that keep coming up.

Mandolins and banjos are a lot of fun! Enjoy it.

I talked to Marv this afternoon. He said they were not going to replace the transformer until Saturday. He also said he remembers it going out in the Gibson days.

Katie is saying that it is more like 2-3 weeks w/o transformer..

we need some mice and a wheel!

The muses Whimsy, Serendipity, and Artful Craftsmanship run the plant. The guitars market and sell themselves, along with a bit of drumming from The Faithful. We all have beautiful Heritage guitars. Each of us has The One; the other 999,999 came from Nashville....

So then . . . . . I must have the last production guitar made prior to the big transformer crash. "The Odyssey" is now probably worth at least a buck three eighty more than it would have been worth without the failure. Five years from now .... who knows?? Maybe a buck four eighty??

By the way Mark, if you'll alow me to comment on the title of your thread . . . . Heritage has not "lost its' power" . . . . but only the 3 phase electricity coming into the plant. As it realtes to the loyality and admiration of we the HOC members . . . . Heritage's power is in tact!!!

Not sure where you live, but here in the South, we spell it Lynyrd Skynyrd!

Patrick,

That electricity outage was the ghosts of the factory saying "No" to machine buffing your guitar and possibly destroying the finish.
