76mjs Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I just switch the wiring in my H150 from the modern to vintage wiring. Now when the switch is in the middle position the neck volume has no effect whatsoever. It sounds identical to the bridge position and the volume lowers only when i use the bridge volume. I think this may be just "one of those things" with the vintage wiring.
Patrick Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 You may want to check to see if the ground wire going from pot to pot is touching any of the other pots where it shouldn't be.
76mjs Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 do you it may be grounding out with another pot? that makes sense because both volume should have an affect in the middle position
TalismanRich Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I wired my H140 to vintage wiring, and the volume and tone controls work normally. The main change is that the tone doesn't roll off so much when you drop the volume down. I would recheck all the wiring to make sure that its correct.

In 1952, the first Les Paul complete with Vintage wiring, had 2 volume and 2 tone controls, all working independent of the other with the exception, when the 3 way pickup selector is in the middle position, one volume will cut off both pickups when turned off completely. Nothing has changed through today unless you have custom wiring. Find the short.
