Heritage takes too long on custom orders.

A few days before I ordered my H-357 my boss ordered a BMW convertible sports car. They built the car, shipped it to the states and he will pick up his car next week. My 357 is still a month out.

But you know what? When Bill is having to carry his car in for all the little problems it will have, I'll play a sad song for him on my H-357. I wouldn't trade my 357 for his BMW. A BMW doesn't mean anything to me. A custom made Heritage Firebird, hand made by Marv Lamb, is something special. It can't be rushed and I don't want it to be. Neither does Marv.

I am willing to wait until Michigan, I mean Hell freezes over. :icon_thumright:

I'm with ya bird! I think mine was 10-14 days away before the power went out...BTW what's the status of the repairs all you Kzoo area guys?

You may be right about the temperature when your guitar is done.

Has the transformer been fixed yet?

Yeah, we know about the automated, cookie-cutter, mass production makers that pump out more guitars in a day than Heritage does in a year. There are good reasons why we would rather wait for the real deal....

Amen to that. I'm also wondering when the transformer will be fixed.

The length of time a car in the U.K. lasts is about 12 years, showroom to tip.My oldest guitar was made in 1932,and it's worth more than I paid for it,46 years ago.Heritage,we all know are the greatest.Well worth the wait,as we all agree. When your boss tips his BMW,you'll still be twangin' it,and the value of your purchase will rise too.Good choice. Modern Cars = Tonka's for Plonkers !

Just out of curiosity, which model did your boss get? The 3 and 5 series are made right up the road from me in Greenville, SC. If he had one made in Germany, he probably paid more than 30 times what you paid for your new Heritage and as Peter pointed out, yours will out last his by several lifetimes!!

Ron, let them take their time and do it right. My custom 525 took 4 months to complete, but I know they didn't work on it 8 hours a day for that entire time period. I was going stir crazy waiting for that thing to get done. Now it sits on a stand 24/7 and gets played daily because it means so much to me.

You saw Marv cutting the wood and matching the side wings of your 357. What an incredible opportunity for you! I bet your buddy never saw them drop the motor into his new BMW on their assembly line!

I think he ordered the Z4. It is a small hopped up convertible.

You got it right Guit, Bill won't even get to see them put gas in the tank but I was able to see my 357 in the pieces and parts stage.

"Heritage takes too long on custom orders."

I have the same good news/bad news situation.

- The good news is that my custom 535 will be here NEXT WEEK - I've see photos of it, it's gorgeous, and I can hardly wait!!

- The bad news is I've been feeling that way for most of the last 6+ months since I ordered it, back in March, which is when Heritage estimated 6-8 weeks. Weeks, not months.

I have to confess - a little piece of my heart has gotten just the teeniest bit weary of anticipating and then waiting, and then anticipating, and then waiting some more. But I know that stuff happens with custom orders, and that it has to be done right; and I also know that when the UPS truck pulls up out front next week, all sins will be forgiven, the stars will shine brighter at night, the heavens will migrate more perfectly, and I will have a guitar that's a treasure.

But I still hate waiting this long ...

Waited thirteen months for my custom spec Super Eagle! The instant I opened the case, it didn't matter....

OK yoslate . . . . now I need to see that Super Eagle. I don't think I've ever seen it

Take a look at my avatar, for a taste. I'm challenged in this, but i'll see what I can do, if I can get back into flickr.... Heh.... And it was at PSP's I, II, and III.

If that's Rob's Super Eagle, then I totally misread it. I've seen that many times before. It's really a great piece. But, because I couldn't see the head stock clearly, I thought it had the same split block as the fingerboard . . (H550) It has no pick guard, so I couldn't identify it by the Super Eagle propriatary pick guard. And, I would have never guessed a Super Eagle with P90s. I thought that maybe this was Kuz's H550. But, now I can see how big the body is. It's a beautiful guitar with a great finish. Is that dark ALSB or Chestnut Sunburst?

Thanks FredZep . .. I really don't like these screen names or handles or whatever they call them. What's your real name? I appreciate you stepping in here and showing Rob's Super Eagle. I appreciate even more that like me, Rob is also challenged in getting photos up on HOC . . . even if it is to a lesser degree of "challenged" than my own. But, beware!! I go for my first class using my newly acquired digital cam this Tuesday. You all (I'm not going to say y'all after that last Jihad over the term) are going to be begging me to stop with the photos!

No problem, Patrick... Some more.

Thanks, Fred! Much appreciated!!

That's an Almond Sunburst, Patrick. Lollar P-90's. And the flame in the sides, back, and neck has to be seen in the flesh, to be believed. That box is a testimonial to the luthier's art from our friends on Parsons Street!

Thanx again Fred. The guitar looks so much better with the pick guard on it. The color is really vibrant. Those tones of yellow on the sides of the head stock and in the center of the burst are not typical of a standard ALSB finish. The second shot of Rob standing up playing . . . I hope he got a blow up of that and framed it. It's a classic shot!!

I LOVE Super Eagles!!

An 8x10 on Endura metallic paper if memory serves.

I met Rob in his room at the Super 8 the day before PSP1. He took the Super out of it's case and handed it to me. I hit a note and it rang so loudly. What a testament to craftsmanship.

I have 4 of the Bird's stunning photos framed and hanging in my home. The man has an eye and acute ability!

No, no... If you remember back through the night of drunken stupor, just before PSP; it was the neighbor's dog that one of you guys said had that. I said you had the biggest lens I'd ever seen!

All prater aside, Sir High Flying Bird is the best photographer I am aware of. If you want to get some color or scenery into a room, his photos are an excellent deal. They are far superior to the starving artists "paintings" seen in many homes. I'd wager that if you PM him he'll oblige you with his web address. The best part? You'll be supporting one of the official HOC photographers and they're made right here in the USA!
