jmc7581 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Well here it is, finally. After the six-month wait, I am speechless (but not, I guess, typeless). This thing is drop-dead gorgeous (to my dazzled eye), feels perfect, sounds divine, is set up so you barely have to think about fretting a note, and the neck seems like it was made for my hand. I don't think I realized I would react in so amazed a way. I thought it'd be like lots of you here have very prudently said - keep your expectations under control, give it time, you'll come to appreciate it. Nope, I love it NOW. Granted I have nothing to compare it to - my first Heritage, first non-slab, first more-or-less "custom" order. But I'll swear I can feel the craftsmanship and the art that went into this, like they are right there in my hands. It's palpable. What an incredible pleasure to play ... and not too bad to look at either. Wowzer. Now I'll try to post photos (first time at this too). Thanks to all who offered thoughts about what to watch for, or why I shouldn't worry about anything except wiping the blood off the fretboard. But there's nothing wrong with this baby that a few decades of playing won't cure ...
Kuz Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Congrats and I love the passion you are showing for your Heritage. BE CAREFUL though.... next thing you know you will have 8 Heritages all wanting attention!!!
FredZepp Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Sweet pics... That finish is perfect. Mmmm Seths in that beautiful semi hollow. That is a magical combination. And we wouldn't mind if you end up posting more pics, it is stunning.
jmc7581 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Drink in the visual beauty of the new arrival. Have a camera ready to capture it ...and share.Then.. play acoustically . Feel the essence of the craftsmanship. Finally, plug it in and dial in that tone that you bought this for. Life is Good. Your advice, FZ. It was VERY GOOD advice! Thanks.
yoslate Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hokey Smokes, Bullwinkle! What an understated stunner! Perfect...just perfect! Congrats, jmc.
Steiner Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 That's what I love about this address, Porn! She's a keeper! You have chosen well.
pushover Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 That is very very sweet... Just what I'd want in a 535, 'cept I already have one. If you want to swap, let me know Glad you like it, I hope it brings you many many hours of joy.
jmc7581 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Very lovely-this was a custom order? Moderately, yes. The main thing was I wanted to make sure I got a neck that tapered from about .9 to 1.0 inches, which I am told is thicker, beefier, that the average Heritage neck. I really wanted to make sure I did NOT get a thin neck. I also wanted the pickguard shape you see in the photo, the black speed knobs instead of the standard amber ones (I really like the black against that finish), a bone nut, the Seths, and the dark almond sunburst. So "custom" to that extent - not off-the-shelf - but not hugely tricked out. I really REALLY like it. And to be able to get the little things you want, so their absence doesn't nag at you down the road - what a luxury!
Dick Seacup Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 That. Is. Beautiful! But, now we need clips.
jmc7581 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 That. Is. Beautiful! But, now we need clips. Thank you DS. Unfortunately, clips from me would require a major software update to the site - people would be clamoring for a "mute" function, in addition to the heretofore underused "ignore" function.
schundog Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Congratulations! You definitely got a "looker" there, and, I'll bet, a player as well. Welcome to the 535 Club!! I wish you many years of happiness with that beauty.

You made me laugh. OK, so no clips (pity, that). How about more pics? What does the back look like? Hrmmm?
JeffB Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 But I'll swear I can feel the craftsmanship and the art that went into this, like they are right there in my hands. It's palpable. What an incredible pleasure to play ... and not too bad to look at either. Wowzer. That puts words to how Ive always felt about my H150. Mine isnt the prettiest H150 but it has this feeling with it that makes me want to just play it. Congrats on the new guitar. Looks stunning.
chico Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I love that color. That guitar is as close to perfection as can be found on this planet.
High Flying Bird Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 That's the color I ordered for my 357. Nice looking guitar. I'll bet it doesn't suck.
koula901 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 JMC7581 That IS gorgeous! What guage strings are you using?
H Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I'm pretty sure that each and every guitar that Heritage produce is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship but there's nothing quite like specifying some of its make-up and knowing that you too have been part of the process, part of its heritage. Cherish it, polish it. And play it
Gitfiddler Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Congratulations! There is NOTHING like getting your own custom made Heritage. Play it in good health.
