koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Hi Guys, Good news. Some of you who have been reading my Craigs List thread know that I'm trying to get a 535. Well, the seller will list it on ebay, some deal where you list it privately, something or other. I'll be able to pay with Pay Pal and at least have some recourse if all doesn't go well, but he seems to be okay - spoke on the phone, today. I've seen pics and it's bea-u-ti-ful....It looks to be in great shape. Thanks to Southpaw for listing the 137 in this forum. This one's a lefty with a chunky neck-which I like. It's coming with 11s. Next, Heritage has finally shipped my H 137 to Jerry, who, I imagine, will likely ship it to me after he photographs it, etc. - I'm hoping to receive that by next saturday - that one's a long time in waiting - I put my order in last August 5th, and have endured transformer delays, etc. But Heritage tells me it's beautiful, has a veneer on it, vintage wine burst. Can't wait to see that too. Woo Hoo! I traded in the 150 for the 137, just to heavy.
FredZepp Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Congrats...!!! There's lots of good news there... The 137 with the veneer will be a treat to see. They should probably do more of those. And I'm really glad to hear that the 535 deal worked out... very exciting, I'm sure.
Spectrum13 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 You should be set for a while. P90 solid and a humbucker semi.
H Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I traded in the 150 for the 137, just to heavy. The evil twins are no more Hope the 535 comes soon - you'll love it

Or Aug 5 of 2009?
koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Koula901 . . . when you say that you ordered your 137 last Aug 5, are you saying Aug 5 of this year? Or Aug 5 of 2009? Yes, Patrick, H 137, P 90 (jason lollars) was orderd 8/5/10
Patrick Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Yes, Patrick, H 137, P 90 (jason lollars) was orderd 8/5/10 Wow . . . that's around 9 or 10 week turn around from order to delivery. While I'm sure it seemed like an eternity to you, that was actually pretty darn good performance. I hope it's everything you've been dreaming for the past 10 weeks that it would be. I'm going to be real curious about which of the 2 you're going to spend more time with in the next couple of months. Anyways . . it's going to be nice for you to have that choice.
tulk1 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 What veneer on the 137? Glad it's all working out. Sounds like your CL seller is a good guy.

H 137 will be vintage wine burst - just like Brent's 137. 535 is dark almond burst - someone else on the hoc just got one rightey, recently. and yeah, seller of 535 does seem nice. he writes a lot of reviews for harmony central, signs w/full name, responds when contacted, doesn't seem like he has anything to hide.
koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 You should be set for a while. P90 solid and a humbucker semi. Yes, that's what I figure - covers a lot of ground.
jmc7581 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 H 137 will be vintage wine burst - just like Brent's 137. 535 is dark almond burst - someone else on the hoc just got one rightey, recently. and yeah, seller of 535 does seem nice. he writes a lot of reviews for harmony central, signs w/full name, responds when contacted, doesn't seem like he has anything to hide. Oooo. I'm the guy with the new dark almond burst 535, and if yours is anything like mine ... it'll be a looker. And vintage wine burst was a very close second choice for me. These'll be a totally stunning pair - can't wait for the photos! Patrick's right - 9-10 weeks is great turnaround. I guess everything went the way it's supposed to. My 535 took about 3x that long (6 and 1/2 months), but who's counting? Bill Paige told me on the phone that, basically, stuff happens sometimes with custom orders - they find something they don't like, and that's it, they start over. Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones.
koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Congrats...!!! There's lots of good news there... The 137 with the veneer will be a treat to see. They should probably do more of those. And I'm really glad to hear that the 535 deal worked out... very exciting, I'm sure. Thanks Fred. Heritage will do whatever you ask of them, as you know. I think they don't do more of them because people just don't know that they have the option to ask for this. I only found out about "H 137 Deluxe" model because I asked Brent about his, and he said it was a new model, although it's not yet listed on their web site. The thing that gets me,is that the veneer is probably less than a quarter of an inch, more likely around an 1/8", and the upcharge for that is $400 retail (then you get dealer's discounted rate). All in all, I'll be glad to get it, and I figure, without sounding morose about it, we've got to get our Heritages while these guys are still alive!
yoslate Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Yes, that's what I figure - covers a lot of ground. No kidding! Can't think of a thing you couldn't cover with those two and a decent little amp! Looking forward to pics, especially the 137! If that's anything like Brent's DC...! Congrats, koula!
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I didn't know you were vying for a 535 Katy-that is awesome. What year is it? Does this mean you will have to wait longer for that amplifier you have been saving for?
brentrocks Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 H 137 will be vintage wine burst - just like Brent's 137. no kidding...so its a H 137 Deluxe? Congrats!!!
koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 no kidding...so its a H 137 Deluxe? Congrats!!! Should be just like yours Brent, (except I'll have Lollars). vintage wine burst, and double cut. Your 137 will have a sister in the north east.
koula901 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 I didn't know you were vying for a 535 Katy-that is awesome. What year is it? Does this mean you will have to wait longer for that amplifier you have been saving for? yeah, well, on the 535 the opportunity came up, it is lefty w/chunky neck - a rare thing, and I knew I'd want a 535 in the future, I figured the moment was now, and yes, the amp will have to wait, but I figure first things first. Build up your stable and try the filles out on prospective amp, to make sure the amp will work for you.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I forgot-lefty-you are right (I mean left, lol), you had to jump on it while you could. See, I would think a "lefty" would have a built in advantage with the fretting hand, versus the strumming hand. I have always wondered about that, why a lefty has a hard time fretting with the left, or dominant hand! Any clue?
High Flying Bird Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 That's good news for you. Congrats! I ordered the 357 on Aug. 9th in Dark Almond Sunburst. It must be getting close.
golferwave Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I'll bet you're anxious Koula...Those will be a couple of great axes for you to play. Can't wait to see the pictures. With the transformer delay it looks like my new sunsetburst P-90 equipped H-150 will be shipping in about two weeks. I'm counting the days also!
LK155 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Koula, I like your attitude......get 'em while you can. Paying for them is an issue for another day. (I've used this strategy with limited success.) Hope your 535 deal works out the way you want it to. I was truly worried for you previously, but I'm feeling much better about it now. You're gonna love that 137. It is such a counterpoint to the 535 (solid body, minimal bling, Lollars) that you'll enjoy the diversity a lot. And the P90 sound is addictive. Congrats, Lyle
Gitfiddler Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I think women who like chunky neck gitfiddles are really sexy...sorta like female cops! OK, I'm a wierdo. I know this for a fact, because my wife always tells me so. Anyway, we're all looking forward to your 2 new Heritages, Koula. I'm glad the 535 deal worked out.
koula901 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 I forgot-lefty-you are right (I mean left, lol), you had to jump on it while you could. See, I would think a "lefty" would have a built in advantage with the fretting hand, versus the strumming hand. I have always wondered about that, why a lefty has a hard time fretting with the left, or dominant hand! Any clue? When I first taught myself guitar, it just felt right to play lefty. I asked the guy at the hoc shop, would it be okay to play it lefty, and he said, sure, just turn it around. What a mistake! I probably could have play rightey as well as lefty, but it just felt better to play lefty.
koula901 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 (some stuff deleted) Patrick's right - 9-10 weeks is great turnaround. I guess everything went the way it's supposed to.
