Gig Report

I get to put this one in the HG room because I used the H555! Unless, of course, Eric objects. :aggressive_mini:

Last week we played a local joint called Tony's Rock Bottom. Lordy was it wild!! Tons of people, cookouts, beer galore and drunken women getting into fights. Yeah, baby!! Tuesday we got a call from the bar saying they'd had a mixup with the band for Saturday and would we like to play again. So, heck yeah!! Not quite the roadhouse-esque adventure this weekend. Still a nice gig. The venue is a converted mobile home. Dark, dank ... just perfect for getting your redneck on. However! Step out back and it's a great deck that can be converted to indoor/outdoor just by opening the overhead doors. It's surrounded by a sports complex - ball diamonds, picnic grounds, volley ball courts ...... really pretty cool. The crowd (except for the drunken, rowdy womens) are friendly and very appreciative of the music; always clapping after the songs. :clapping_mini: Dancing a good deal of the night. Okay, the drunken womens are friendly, too. Almost TOO friendly at times. Not always a bad thang. :rolleyes_mini:

I just got the PSPIII White boy back from getting a good setup, so I took it out. We, also, had a friend from another country band sitting in with us. Great Tele-picker. I used the Tweed Super (yep Kuz, it's back to the #1 amp) and set up my Tweed Deluxe for the other guy. He cranked that thing to 10!! Sounded sweet. Loud, but sweet. Here's a few pics.

Great report Kenny. Don't know if he can play, but that tele player has got the country-guitar-player look DOWN. I guess I went long enough without a gig that I'm always looking over my shoulder a bit, but if he was going to sit in with me in a country band, I'd make him wear a "co-exist" tee, or a polo shirt, or some other kind of visual equalizer. I mean, it's one thing to play louder than the lead player, but you got to watch out for those fashion-statement guys. (just kidding, of course... mostly)

Did you break out the mandolin?

Looks like fun.

No, not this time. But I did play the banjo.

I have never seen Brice (the other gtr) in anything except cut off sleeve shirts ........ ever! Guess that's his thing.

If you don't have a pistol on you you can sign for one at the door.

Cool band, Kenny. I posted on Facebook this summer that it would be cool to have a girl singer for a couple of songs for our block party this year, so people didn't have to listen to me all night! A neighbor piped up that she sang at weddings, karaoke, etc, and her husband said she was "really good." She came over to practice with us one night, and never DID find the melody line for the song, "I need you now," Lady Antebellum!! She did do better on Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman," but we never did get the block party in this year. Busyness of life....Sigh...

Well, the DWB (Dirty White Boy) really hasn't seen much action since bringing it home. I gigged it the next weekend. Then a week or so later decided to get a setup done on it. Strings were a bit high, had the ping! on the G string. Stuff like that. Things you'd expect. Now here's where it gets weird. I have two guys that can work on my guitars. One buddy just happens to be the inhouse tech at GC. (no yelling!!!). He's very good, loves Heritage guitars. And I like to throw him some biz now and then to help him out - they work on quotas. So, I took him the DWB. 40 days later!!! I get my guitar back. Yep, 40 days. :aggressive_mini: The day I got it back he and went to lunch together. He mentioned he'd let mine slip, knowing that I had other great Heritages to play, and that he figured he could use my "slot" to take care of some squeaky wheels. Yeah, he's right, it wasn't that big of a deal, altho' I'd forgotten how long it'd been. Anyway, he did a fantastic job; had to do some work on the input jack; file the nut; neck adjustment; stuff like that; and it plays very well.

Tamborine on a stick = Banjo. :drunken_smilie: Played it Saturday. :icon_thumright:
