jturbo77 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I ordered my first ever U.S. made guitar back in the beginning of August and I'm still waiting. Its an H-157 and I can't wait to get it. I was told around 90 days for delivery, and I'm getting close to that point now. But waiting is hard!!! And then seeing all of the great pics of the new guitars (especially Bird's H-357, are you kidding me) makes it even worse lol. I know it will be worth it in the end but man, this sucks!
Spectrum13 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Till your 157 arrives, others have found life is still worth living. Try not to think about what stage of construction it is in. Should Ren be cutting the nut and doing the final inspection or the paint is drying, don't even think about it. You might consider removing this site from your favorites list. Watch TV, read a book, work out. When you see a UPS van, block the thought of a minty new 157 made to order on the way. Glad to have you as a new member and post some photos when you can.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Easy for you to say Dan! When was the last time you waited for a new Heritage!
jturbo77 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Antique Cherry Sunburst - it was a tough choice but I really like the way Heritage does it. I got a premium maple top and Seymour Duncan 59's.

High Flying Bird Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Antique Cherry Sunburst - it was a tough choice but I really like the way Heritage does it. I got a premium maple top and Seymour Duncan 59's. I have never seen a 157 in that finish. It should be pretty damn sharp.
brentrocks Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Welcome to the HOC! When i had my H 137 Deluxe built last year it took 9 weeks...a 157 is much more involved, but Heritage is a lil slow....it may be 3 months???
tulk1 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I'd chime in with how long it took to get my Millie NFH custom order. But it kinda ticks people off, sometimes. I will say, it certainly amazed me. The Custom Prospect was a bit different - right on about 3 months. But lordy was that one worth the wait. Would Antique Cherry Sunburst be ACSB? Should be killer with a premium top.
jmc7581 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I ordered my first ever U.S. made guitar back in the beginning of August and I'm still waiting. Ha! Amateur! Talk to me when the ticker hits six months ... Seriously, I feel your pain. I just got my custom-ordered 535, which (brace yourself) I ordered in March. Other folks have waited longer; it just happens sometimes. But here's the true and important thing - I've almost forgotten that I had to wait that long. First, as several other patient people on this board told me, the moment you open the case and see that beauty - all transgressions will be forgiven, and you'll be glad you waited to get something so wonderful. Second, my 535 is absolutely gorgeous, flawlessly finished and put together, and is the smoothest-playing guitar I've ever owned. I bet yours will be too. So think positive thoughts!
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 What's the process for ordering a custom Heritage? Find the dealer you want to go through, pick the model, then spec the guitar out with the dealer and wait for them to come back with the price quote? School me man, school me.
jmc7581 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 What's the process for ordering a custom Heritage? Find the dealer you want to go through, pick the model, then spec the guitar out with the dealer and wait for them to come back with the price quote? Will - the short answer is "yes." That's what I did, through J. Hale music in Wisconsin, and got a quote back within a day. Here's a recent thread talking about this: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10710-custom-orders-list-prices-features/ A couple of my posts there (#'s 3 and 5) talk about my experience; then Tulk1, who has much more experience than me, weighed in (post #8) with his advice about working over the specs directly with the guys at Heritage first.
koula901 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 That's going to be gorgeous! Can't wait to see the pics. And yeah, the wait can be excruciating at times.
jturbo77 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Sounds like i should be getting a phone call sometime relatively soon based on some of your experiences. I have never done this before, so when it finally does arrive, its going to be one of those moments that I won't soon forget. I have seen one or two pictures of a 157 with a cherry sunburst and if mine is anything like those then I'm going to be happy beyond belief. You better believe there will be lots of pics taken. I like reading the different boards here, there's a lot to learn just by taking a few minutes to read the threads everyday.
big bob Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 It's like I told the Bird, good things come to those who wait! all in it's own time my friend!
