I think it is the buffing rub near the edge @ tulk1

The buffing mark and the crack in the lacquer right at the start of the shadow. Also looking closer and found more and larger marks under the finish. Also fretboard has small voids in two spots. So far Dealer is not taking my calls. Talked to Ren left # for Marv but no call back yet.

That is the worst story I've heard about quality.

That tops the one I had about the goofy stinger on a Golden Eagle.

I wish you could see this one in person. It's unreal. The more I look the more flaws in the finish I find. The one by the neck really bugs me.

602A - SO sorry to hear this crap is happening to you. If the dealer doesn't make good, I'll join the rest of the HOC, put on my western boots and do some a*s kickin' with the rest of ya.

we've got the western boots covered, koula. could maybe use some stiletto heels, tho B)

(following this thread with great interest. the cosmetic glitches don't bother me so much (if the sound & feel are OK & the price is *right*), but i wouldn't bother plugging in a guit w/that neck joint)

Dealer not taking calls eh? How convenient for him! Well guess what-he picked the wrong cat to screw-an HOC member. We are the biggest force out there to quickly destroy his reputation beyond repair. Once he realized that, I think a prompt refund will be in order. If he doesn't, Spectrum13, myself and Guido will be making a trip out to see him in person!

OK UPDATE: Talked to dealer who by the way is small, But he was helpful and said he usually checks the guitars before they are shipped. Said he didn't do it this time and left it to a young employee. As if box was damaged and said he will call Heritage and get it settled about finish and neck. Worse case I get all money back and have to find another one. Says if they have one in stock the same color he will get it. I just hope he comes through, he seemed sincere.wacko_mini2.gif

sounds OK so far. if he re-posts that guitar in that condition, let us know, as a heads-up. that'd be fair, too, IMHO

If you still have trouble send an e-mail and CC everyone here who will let you. Hope he does what he says.Sounds like he will. The blame it on someone else may be an excuse. I worked in QC, and sometimes theres is a push to get it out,( some customers would take something that other wont)dont spend time on something if you dont have to,this will cost extra and he may not have wanted to pay one of his workers the few extra bucks. He may have know about this. Or ship it out and see what happens. Dont want to sound like a downer just fuel for thought if this goes south one you.Just some insight to the ways things can can happen, not to say this is what happen. No excuse for it. Sounds like you should be ok.

The dealer is ultimately responsible. It's his job to make it right.

Nothing else matters.

Definitely not good for a brand new guitar, but here's a suggestion: Could you negotiate a huge discount of enough quantity so that both you and the dealer are happy for you to keep the guitar without it having to go back to the store or factory for a re finish? Most retailers just want a quiet life, and if he has had the guitar in stock for a long time he just might give you a partial refund to let it go. If I had paid - say $1200 for the guitar (I don't know what you paid for it), considering the knocks on it and rust on the case, I would ask for a 25% refund, and let the retailer work something out with the factory. If the cost was more, the discount asked for would be pro rata to the greater sum. Just a thought.

Which ever way you decide to deal with this, my best wishes to you.

No small like small store. Not small like You ha ha

Too late Ren wanted it at the factory so it's already shipped. Should be there Wed. Go check Mark and make sure it gets done right. Ha Ha I wouldn't want to keep it for 1/2 price. It needs that much repair.

I'll make sure it's okay. But don't be surprised if somehow they change it into a gold top Roy Clark when you open the box!

I know of one case in which a Heritage dealer got a guitar with an obvious cosmetic defect but the guitar was not a second. The dealer got a substantial discount from Heritage. It was up to the dealer whether this discount was passed on to the customer. I don't know how often that situation happens.
