Patrick Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 That looks like Jay Wolfe photography on a Jay Wolfe guitar. IMHO the H555 looks better with the nickel/chrome hardware. Gorgeous top and color!! Is the neck a 3 piece maple? Or is it a 1 piece mahogany? Either way, it's a beauty.
Heritage525 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 One piece mahogany . . . Kinda wish it was the sexier 3 piece maple. I heard the mahogany sounds better??
Patrick Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 One piece mahogany . . . Kinda wish it was the sexier 3 piece maple. I heard the mahogany sounds better?? There are those that swear they can hear a difference. I am absolutely certain that I can not hear a difference. If there is a difference, and someone who actually knew what to listen for in detecting that difference (unlike myself) were to point it out to me in a realistic side by side comparison . . . then maybe I might be able to detect it. However, I do agree with your definition of "sexier". It is also said that a 3 piece neck is more stable than both a single piece and a 5 piece. That too is probably very difficult to substantiate quantitatively . . . (outside of theoretic physics). Just love it for what it is and play the shit out of it. It's beautiful!!
mark555 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Beautiful, hope you buy it. My own 555 also has nickel hardware, I had it upgraded myself and it looks much better for it.
yoslate Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 An absolute stunner, Steve!!! Perfect; just perfect. The blocks really make that guitar, for me. Great color, and a primo piece of lumber in that top! Congrats!
FredZepp Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Great looking finish on that one... an exceptional guitar, no doubt. Something quite grand to look forward to. Congrats.
