Halowords Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I'm interested in gathering up some nice pictures of Old Style Sunburst (OSB) finishes in particular. However, I'd be interested if there are any deeper/darker finished Dark Almond Sunburst (DASB) finishes, as well as any OSB or DASB finished guitars that have darker centers. And yes, I lack originality. This is largely inspired by gawking at tulk1's Prospect Custom's pictures here: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/index.php?/gallery/image/1565-09-prospect-custom-dark-almond-sunburst/ And here: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/index.php?/gallery/image/1567-09-prospect-custom-dark-almond-sunburst/ I'm also wondering if they've done any OSB's that were intentionally darker a/o extended a more chocolate-brown finish through the center (or if that's in fact what tulk's guitar more-or-less is). That and more nice pictures. -Cheers
SouthpawGuy Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 My 137 in OSB and 575 also in OSB It does look different on the 137, solid mahogany body, than on the 575 with the maple top.
koula901 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Since you're considering the darker bursts, you might want to consider Vintage Wine Burst.
Halowords Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Since you're considering the darker bursts, you might want to consider Vintage Wine Burst. VWB finishes are hit-or-miss with me. That middle ring of wine-red sorta throws me off for some reason. Sometimes they look great, other times they just aren't for me. But yeah, I'm sort of collecting pics for an either-or scenario. I'm thinking (as noted ad nauseum in prior threads) a tan/blonde sort of Antique Natural finish with darker flame contrasts, or if they don't think that will turn out nice (or not quite how I am thinking), I'll just find some nice OSB or DASB pics that sort of look nice as my backup plan. There seems to be a lot of variance, so it's just finding the right individuals to show as examples. Thanks for the pic though! That is nice.
ingeneri Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 '93 Golden Eagle--Old Style Burst: Sigh, I miss those old taipieces. I'm addicted to OSB (see Super Eagle in my avatar).
Patrick Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 '93 Golden Eagle--Old Style Burst: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . .
tulk1 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 David, this is the H157 I sold to Cosmikdebris in the UK a couple of years ago: The Millennium I showed you the other day as a "Brindle" is OSB. One of the most awesome tops I've seen. Wish my pictures were better.
mars_hall Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Put OSB in the search field within the Gallery and click the magnifying glass.
Halowords Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Put OSB in the search field within the Gallery and click the magnifying glass. That would be too obvious, don't you think? In my defense, I thought "OSB" would be too short for the search function to recognize and trying "old style" gave me the message "No results found for 'old'." But yeah, "old" didn't work (or "old style"), but OSB did. Who'd have thought?

111518 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 My 535. I actually wanted a more black to yellow burst, but this has grown on me ...
chico Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 the H150CM is ASB and the Millie DC is OSB. I think my Millie OSB is a more yellow burst than some of the other OSB models shown.
yoslate Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 My 535. I actually wanted a more black to yellow burst, but this has grown on me ... Woof!!! That one's a real looker, Larry! Love that one!
Patrick Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 My 535. I actually wanted a more black to yellow burst, but this has grown on me ... Mr. 111518 . . . . I find myself once again taking a view on things that's just a little different than you own. The only way I could possibly like your 335 . . . OOPS! . . . I meant 535 .. . any more than I do, is if it was in my collection instead of yours!! That finish is beautiful . . . and the dark rosewood board sets if off very nicely. You did, however, redeem yourself by stating that it has grown on you. Please contact me immediately if it ever grows "off" of you.
High Flying Bird Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I do hate being a bore and posting this photo again, but........ I asked for Dark Almond Sunburst on the 357. I liked that it wasn't too dark. The 475 below it is the regular Almond Sunburst. I kina' like em' both.

Halowords Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Hey Flat, any chance we could get a shot of your OSB 535 in natural sunlight a/o at an angle where the flash wouldn't glare? That is very nice though. I'd just be curious to see the finish in a more natural setting. -Cheers
