Guest mgoetting Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 The best laid plans.... This Eagle was obviously dropped by FedEx. It was in its case with strings loosed and the case was in a guitar box with styrofoam padding. The neck snapped where it rested on the case neck support. A rapid deceleration as the guitar landed on its back had to be responsible. Here are the before and after pics. Now to fill out the FedEx claim forms. lifewithasong received the broken guitar today. He couldn't have been better about it. He's sending the guitar back. I'll get it fixed and keep it. It's gonna kill me but I will probably have to send his guitar back to him.
602a Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Told you Pearly Gates is possessed. Send her back before anything else bad happens. I'll take her for a exorcism and a Bath in Holy Water
Guest mgoetting Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 They say every adversity is an opportunity. I ain't seeing it yet.
golferwave Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Those are pictures that'll make every guitar lover cringe. Best of luck with the insurance forms and the repair.
pegleg32 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 That's a sad ending to a nice guitar Mark, and without any good reason. I know it's just a job, but I wish those guys would think about what they are handling when these things pass through their hands.
big bob Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Mark , That totally stinks it all up... Hope all ends well.
602a Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 They say every adversity is an opportunity. I ain't seeing it yet. Trust me Brother It does get better. Some of us take a little longer.{ME}
FredZepp Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Broken neck... We've had a round of bad luck at the HOC lately with shipped guitars... They come in threes... from now on all is good.
koula901 Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I'll call Chris O'Donnell and we'll conjure up a a spell at the next full moon, to cast out the bad luck.
smurph1 Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 sorry to hear about your eagle dude..But here is the good news..I cracked the neck on my H-140 last year, and with a professional glue job you can hardly see the crack, and she still sounds great..
brentrocks Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 That sucks man...sorry to see that. i once recieved a broken guitar...none that i have shipped have been broken...it was 1 1985 H 170 OSB with a killer flame top, i cried!
Guest mgoetting Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I'll call Chris O'Donnell and we'll conjure up a a spell at the next full moon, to cast out the bad luck. If her magic worked she'd be Senator O'Donnell.
Millennium Maestro Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I Feel you pain. This was my first Millie Eagle Custom
Guest mgoetting Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I Feel you pain. This was my first Millie Eagle Custom Guitars, like life itself, are fragile and precious.
Kuz Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Mark, Any full pics of the Eagle BEFORE the broken neck???
Patrick Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Mark: there seems to be a dark cloud over some of your deals. I feel for ya man. Not every body's going to drive up to you and put a mint Johnny Smith in your hands.
Blunote Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Mark, you're in K'zoo. What would Heritage charge to replace the neck? Or maybe I should ask how much more than Fed-ex reimburses you would it cost? Some guitars are worth putting back to original. Any way, tough pictures to look at. Sorry it happened.
bolero Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 oh man, that's a real shame....I feel your pain if it's any consolation: I have a couple guitars with broken/repaired necks, as long as there's no wood missing it can repaired fairly easily & will probably be stronger than it was before
TalismanRich Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 That really stinks. I would definitely talk to the guys at Heritage, besides getting it back to factory spec, it keeps the folks at Parsons working. The thing that I would always worry about is feeling the repair when you play. If it's up by the headstock its one thing, but this looked like it was down into the fretting area. I've been lucky with the guitars that I've bought and had shipped, but you just know in the back of your mind that SOMEDAY a gorilla will be on duty when your baby comes through.
Guest mgoetting Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Mark, Any full pics of the Eagle BEFORE the broken neck???
Tim Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Wow. Sorry Mark. That is truly a shame! One reason why I will never buy any guitar and have it shipped by FEDEX or UPS (unless it is in a full metal jacket)...I don't trust those people.
Guest mgoetting Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Well, WTF! Life goes on. Now to clean up the mess.
