602a Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 The week from hell seems to have ended. Counting 150, Alternator, Battery both out on Suburban same day. Opened up box on 66 Strat to find broken fret board. Guy forgot to mention is was coming loose and his guitar repair guy botched the job. All money refunded and shipped back. Good new always comes last. New old 140 Gold Top came in and is a smoking son of a gun. This one has been setting up for 6 years. The guy got it from grandmother and took it to local guitar shop had setup, cleaned, neck checked and new strings added. It is fantastic. Low action and great body weight 8.4lbs. Hope next week is like the last few hours of today.
FredZepp Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 That is a great goldtop. The 140's are a special guitar,I just pulled my red 140 out a couple of days ago and have it on a stand so that it will be easier to grab. They feel great ! And first edition 140's have always reminded me of the Les Paul prototypes that Gibson made. They had a similiar look to them, sharp cutaway and all..... It's great to hear that you ended your week on a positive note....
Kuz Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Great to hear that you finally caught some good luck.
schundog Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Enjoy your new 140, it's on my "short list!"
High Flying Bird Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 The guy got it from grandmother and took it to local guitar shop had setup, cleaned, neck checked and new strings added. Was she from Pasadena? Boy you should be ashamed. That man took that guitar away from and old feeble woman who's only joy was playing along with The Allmans at the Filmore. There is a special place in hell......
JeffB Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Yeah, sweet. Glad you finally had a good break.
TalismanRich Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Good things come to those who wait! The 140 is a great guitar. No frills, solid, toneful! Mine's going to stick around for a long time!
