Guest HRB853370 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 What can I expect sound and tone wise with the 575, as contrasted with a 550 and a 555 which have lam tops?
brentrocks Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 If I'm not mistaken, the 575 should be warmer. And will feedback more in high gain or high volume situations.

C,mon Will . . . .that's just gonna kill all the fun. It's kinda like your wife getting an ultra sound to see if the baby's a girl or a boy. Don't you want to just plug it in and listen ...form your own and un jaded opinions?? The answers you get are going to diminish that "holy shit!!!" effect when you first hear it.

tulk1 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I don't get the whole solid v lam-top thing, personally. I have 3 Heritages with laminated tops, 1 with a solid carve. They are what they are - faboo guitars. I don't think I could tell the difference between a laminated top and a solid top guitar, if I didn't already know they were. And obviously (to me) the guitars are either lams or solid for a reason. But!, if I had to guess, I'd guess the blue 575 is going to be one fantastic sounding guitar. ........
Kuz Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Well, to be honest the 575 will sound different depending how you EQ your amp. When I think of 575 tone (I have a 575 Custom), I think of it's sibling the ES175. When I think of "short scale archtop tone".... well two of the obvious are Pat Metheny and George Benson. But even these two have different tones. I guess if I had to pick, I would say the 575 sounds a lot like George Benson (focused, clear, and bright but not harsh). Maybe that helped.
Gitfiddler Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Will, you are going to be in love all over again with this 575. They are warmer sounding than any slim bodied 555/535. You'll get that fat jazz tone for days. The 575 is also short scale 24.75, so you will be flying up and down the neck like a similarly scaled 555, but sounding fatter like your 25.5 scaled 550...if that makes sense. Oh just wait and you'll figure it out for yourself.
