ces Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 So after a hardware and pick up swap, this is what she looks like... before and after
FredZepp Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 OMG that is a hot guitar..... great results..... I'd think that this one is a blast to play....!!!!!!
skydog52 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Now that's a true tuxedo. Great job. Where did you get all the hardware?
H Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Now, if you could just sort out those inlays and the binding... Nice job, I had a Rickenbacker 360 recently (and a 4001 bass in the 70s) that I did the same thing with. Hope she sounds as good as she looks
tulk1 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Good job on the hardware switch. What do you think of the material the bridge is made of? (forgot the name)
Steiner Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Luke, I am your Father! Join the Dark Side. Good... I quite like the transformation. It looks stellar with (the first I've ever seen) black Orange head AND cab. Nice work.
brentrocks Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 i am not a big fan of gold hardware...GOOD MOVE!!! looks awesome!!!!
ces Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Now that's a true tuxedo. Great job. Where did you get all the hardware? the hardware came from several places, Sweetwater, AllPart, Guitar Center / Musicians Friend and TonePro's Marquis Dist. Good job on the hardware switch. What do you think of the material the bridge is made of? (forgot the name) The bridge & tail are made of Zmac and it seems just like my powder coated tuners from Grotro. It seems well made with a good quality finish. i prefer it to black nickel or black chome. its just a good black finish, looks like powder coat.
ces Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Now, if you could just sort out those inlays and the binding... Nice job, I had a Rickenbacker 360 recently (and a 4001 bass in the 70s) that I did the same thing with. Hope she sounds as good as she looks yeah she sounds awesome, the SD's are screaming...
mark555 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 it's always nice to have something different, and I have always liked black pick up bobbins and black P90's on an ebony custom. Which SD's did you put on?
rjsanders Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 most xlnt. seymour does good stuff, but having his name like that on the bobbins bugs me. so, i went down to the hobby shop & got a little bottle of matte black model paint & a brush & make 'em more blacker
kbp810 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 So after a hardware and pick up swap, this is what she looks like... before and after In the before picture she looks classy... In the after she now looks classy and mean! I like it
big bob Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 well done.. I like the look... does she go to 11
pro-fusion Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 If the JB/59 combo doesn't do it for you, you might consider a set of Duncan Distortions. I had them in my 157 for awhile, and it was pretty much instant John Sykes every time I plugged in, since he uses Dirty Fingers in his old '78 LPC. I like the blackout effect on yours, but I prefer to keep my 157 Black Beauty with its pimptastic gold hardware.
ces Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 well done.. I like the look... does she go to 11 Hell yeah! you can't see it in this photo but we painted an 11 on the volume knobs...
