I guess he is a Heritage Dealer? Does anybody know if he has been employed by Gibson or Heritage at any time?

I guess he is a Heritage Dealer? Does anybody know if he has been employed by Gibson or Heritage at any time? Lane Zastrow is an independent sales representative of many different music related items. He's probably one of the most prominent in the industry at what he does. He was once a rep for Gibson . . . might even still be ... and he was also a rep for Heritage for quite some time. In fact, if you look at some of the pictures of PSP I or II, you will see photos taken of him with the owners. I would be curious to read this book and I will look for it a Barnes and Noble. It's my understanding that the separation between himself and Heritage was somewhat unpleasant. I would hope he has enough class to not trash those guys. The industry rumor mill has it that he bailed out on them during their financial challenges, when they most need support most. But, rumors are just that . . . rumors.

I guess I should have read the ebay listing before responding. It looks like this book might have been penned quite a while ago, back when they were in good graces with each other. It would still make for an interesting read . . . even though most of us already know the history.
Guest HRB853370 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Well, if it has quotes and stories from the current Heritage management, yes it would be a nice read. I would like to see a more detailed synopsis of the history of the company that goes beyond what is on the Heritage site under History.
tulk1 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Lane was definitely there at PSPI. He was responsible for all the away giveaways at the plant. We got some.pretty cool stuff from his Heritage accessories store. He is also largely responsible for my Millie NFH custom. He personally stepped in to assist me with some issues. Last word he was working for G&L.

Does anybody know if he has been employed by Gibson or Heritage at any time? that's a real small booklet, undated, no copyright, as noted its only 8 pages (8.5" x 5.5", staple binding), has pix of models from '85-'93, probably from '93 or '94, profiles of the owners then Lane was a sales rep for Gibson in '71, eventually became Executive VP of Sales and Marketing 'til he left & started Lasar Music Corp. in '86 and took on marketing for Heritage. he co-owned and -founded Heritage amps (no other affiliation w/Heritage Guitar, Inc.), which lasted apx 2004-2008. i'm told he's VP of Sales for G&L now, guess he's probably doing other things, too.
pegleg32 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Maybe someone would be good enough to buy this thing and photocopy it into the gallery. That would be neat all around.

Gitfiddler Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I was not aware of the specific nature of Lane's departure from Heritage. He was having health issues, so I assumed that might have played a part. Anyway, he did so much for the brand from the early years that I wish him the best, whatever his reasons for leaving the fold.

rjsanders Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 too many & varied errors. Mr. Admin has been PM'd
rjsanders Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 uploaded a .zip of the booklet here. not the greatest quality, but at least you'll get the gist of it
FredZepp Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 uploaded a .zip of the booklet here. not the greatest quality, but at least you'll get the gist of it Excellent.... thanks for the copy. good reading with some nice details in it...
pegleg32 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks Jeff. That's a neat little booklet. I wish he added a little more detail of the development of models, artists, manufacturing changes, and such. Still, it gives a good, tho brief, description of the backgrounds of the main characters. It is more in the mold of an advertising booklet than a real history. I appreciate your posting it!!
