barrymclark Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 A bit on the sloppy side and falls off here and there. Oh well. It's a good butcher job at least! haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1EWZI1_nt8
pegleg32 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hey Barry, you captured the tone just right!!!! What echo are you using?
kbp810 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Excellent! I enjoy trying to break out some Brian Setzer style rock-a-billy on my 575 every now and then too! (key word there being "trying")
Guest HRB853370 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hey Barry, nice going with that, it takes balls to put yourself out there and you did! Not a bad job at all, and I'd like to see the tab on that, can you send it to me?
barrymclark Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 Hey Barry, you captured the tone just right!!!! What echo are you using? Just what's on the Cube! Just a bit of reverb and slapback on a Blackface model and you're off to the races! I have the gain set up about 75%. Stays relatively clean until I lean into it. Damn I love that little amp! Thanks for the comment!

Not a bad job at all, and I'd like to see the tab on that, can you send it to me? Thanks man! I will try and tab it up this week. Cool? I won't say that it doesn't make me nervous playing in a way that it can get scrutinized, but, hey... this is probably as close as I will ever get to playing on a stage again. It might happen, but with kids and all that, the likelihood REALLY drops off. haha. You just never know though. The hard part is finding folks to jam with that are close by and can handle my rediculously tight schedule. haha. I am supposed to start jamming with a couple of friends in a month or so once they get settled into their new place in town. We shall see.

I can get a bass player and a drummer to come by.
tulk1 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Barry, that was nice. First thing that hit me was the tone - you nailed. And thru the Cube, eh? Wow.

It might have to wait til after the first of the year though. School schedule has me busy on the weekends currently.

barrymclark Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 That was frigging awesome... I slaughter that song all the time on my 575... Lets see more.. Thanks! I'll shoot for getting Rock this Town or Setzer's Sleep Walk posted. Not sure when I'll be able to do it, but it's on the agenda!

FrankV Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 That was really nice, thanks for posting. I like how you played through your "flubs". Most people wouldn't even notice, but you are a perfectionist and want to get it right. I haven't tried to tackle this style of playing, but that was inspiring. If you do manage to tab it out please make it available, I'll leave SRV alone for awhile and take on Brian Setzer! Gotta' aim high, right?

I plan on standard notation, tab and chord names.

mark555 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Nice nice playing, and that tone was nailed on. It just go's to show that you did the right thing getting that 575. Which Roland Cube have you got? My little 15w marshall practice amp seems to be breaking up these days and a new practice amp will be on the cards soon.

Thanks for the compliment! In that recording I am using the 80x. I also have the MicroCube. Both are awesome. The difference, is the bass response. The Micro does a great job but the 12" speaker really gets the bass going. For a kick around amp, I cannot recommend the Cube series more. They have lower powered amps. I think there is a 20w and 40w. All that was the Cube only. The reverb, the slap-back. All of it. The cool thing, for me, with the 80 is I can run that beast into a ext. cabinet if I have to and keep up with anyone. I am trying to remember all of Rock this Town now to record. haha. It has so much little lead and fill work it is hard to remember it all! I am gonna have to dust off my old Setzer book for that one I think.
