ExNihilo Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hello Everyone, My name is Scott Wilkinson. Today is my first day here. I bought my first Heritage H-150 last week and it is my most favorite guitar! I have some experience building guitars (not the greatest, but I do it as a hobby). I hope to be a positive contributor and friend to other proud Heritage owners. Sincerely, Scott P.S. Perhaps the moderator could just delete my first thread altogether and we can call this a fresh beginning?

Spectrum13 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hi -retired navy chopper jock? Someone who can build a guitar has got to know more than a guy like me who trys to play one. Join us in out Heritage love fest.

FredZepp Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Well Done. It made me chuckle reading this new thread, it was well played. Welcome aboard, we look forward to your contributions here....

Patrick Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 BULLSHIT!!!! We don't need to be patronized. Scott did nothing wrong with his original posts. He showed us his work, he stated his opinions . .. we objected to certain aspects of them. He received it well. We all moved on. This should not turn into a forum where the only favorable posts are those with which we agree. This forum will undoubtedly be a better place with people like Scott taking part in. But, only if we do not censer his input. We need no restart. Scott is his own man and he has his own perspective on things. I, for one, accept him and his opinions for what they are . . . . .and I look forward to arguing my perspective against his . . . . in a good natured way.

Well, I just read his feeling about us at the LP forum. I don't know what to believe about this guy, honestly. I tried to go in the second time with an open mind, but I guess time will tell. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luthiers-corner/115294-what-disaster.html I am only posting this thread, because he posted our HOC thread on the My Les Paul forum. Take from it what you will.
Patrick Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Well, I just read his feeling about us at the LP forum. I don't know what to believe about this guy, honestly. Take from it what you will. John: Thanks man. His post on that other forum says it all. He and his idiot friend should stay there We welcome all here. Not just those with which we disagree. But, when we disagree, we say so. We don't walk in lock step to the "I love Les Pauls" robots. His post was obviously intended to impress us with his skills more than it was intended to be a part of the HOC. He would be better served selling his now altered H150, buying something he really wanted and frequenting the sites where they will tell him how great and how skilled he is. I don't want him nor do I want to see his contribution to this forum any longer.
ExNihilo Posted November 17, 2010 Author Posted November 17, 2010 Well, I just read his feeling about us at the LP forum. Yes, that was my feeling for sure. But, if you read down the posts you will find someone who wrote: "Ah I wouldn't worry about it too much scott, they seem to be coming around some bit in the last few posts." So, I said thanks to the MPL chaps for the pep talk and came back here to try again. Patrick is probably right. I do have a big ego and I probably did want to wow you. (which is wrong and I am sorry for that). That is another reason why I wanted my first thread deleted. Anyway, I hope John, you and Patrick can forgive me for that. It was childish of me to seek solace from others like I did. Sincerely, Scott
pegleg32 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Like I said in the other post, hope you stick around Scott. Don't expect kid gloves from this group all the time, never the less, they are a pretty good group to talk guitars with. Welcome.
TalismanRich Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 John: Thanks man. His post on that other forum says it all. He and his idiot friend should stay there We welcome all here. I don't want him nor do I want to see his contribution to this forum any longer. Sorry guys, but I must be reading a different thread than you are. Scott has obviously been a member of MLP a long time and known on there. He comes over here to post something a bit different in recarving/refinishing his 150 and he gets slammed. I'm sure he was taken by surprise. I was taken by surprise by some of the language. He expressed that to his buddies on MLP. They responded. That's it. NOTHING he said was vicious or vindictive. As for Redking... My mom always said if you can't say anything nice about someone.....
Kuz Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Like I said in the other post, hope you stick around Scott. Don't expect kid gloves from this group all the time, never the less, they are a pretty good group to talk guitars with. Welcome. I think Pegleg, that we just value honesty and true intentions very high around here. Like I said, that will have to come with time... if it happens at all.... and I hope it does. We'll see.
rjsanders Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Yes, that was my feeling for sure. But, if you read down the posts you will find someone who wrote: "Ah I wouldn't worry about it too much scott, they seem to be coming around some bit in the last few posts."... Sincerely, Scott just say what you mean, Scott. it'll be good for all of us. i'm an MLP-er, too, and folks is just folks - wherever
golferwave Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I don't mind you sticking around Scott. I like your skilled renditions of some classic guitars. Just don't wave us around in front of the MLP group. Your buddy redking on the other hand can take a hike. How can you "resign" from something you were never a part of to begin with?

Guest HRB853370 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hey Scott, welcome aboard. We welcome all races and religions. And even those who worship Gibson guitars (i.e. Patrick). We don't even mind if you create a FrankenHeritage, if that floats your boat. And we also don't care what folks on the MLP forum say about us either. The fact that they even talk about us is an indication that they are probably jealous and wish they owned a Heritage or two. I am a new member also, only having been on here a few months. Come back and see us often Buddy!
Spectrum13 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Ok now fellows, I only saw one guy on mylespaulforum that was a little out of line and he was from Canada A. No different than some of us have been at one time or another and no reason to put down another forum that shares as much love for 225 Parsons as we do. Starting a battle over the headstock shape might be sacred ground for some of us, but we really can't speak for Marv or Vince and people are entitled to make their own statements. Be cool. Most of the guys were thoughtfull and had great points. We should be happy for all the excitment. There was a lull after Will got his blue 575 and things were getting kind of dull around here.
212Mavguy Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Scott, In your first original post you did absolutely nothing wrong, and quite a few things right. If you researched the past posts of the most inflammatory respondents you will find that they have done that before, and irritated others while doing it, so it's their unfortunate thang. I'd feel pretty good about myself if I could complete a project like you did with the skill to have a finished result come out as well as YOU intended. Bless ya! I'd be disappointed in the Mod if your first thread were deleted. Peace.
Patrick Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 These Mods have got their heads screwed on correctly. Their past reactions to discourse tells me that they aren't going to delete any posts, so you can forget that. And good on them for it!!! Given the diversity and the strong opinions of some in this HOC, I am very impressed with how well the Mods and the Admin continue to take a "hands off" management position. However, with that being said, I feel offended that Scott linked up to our HOC forum just to show others what he felt to be an overly unfair reaction to his alteration of the Heritage head stock. His comments on that other site betray his hidden feelings about our site. I'm glad that Kuz put my nose in it because I was probably the most vocal in coming to the defense of Scott. I'm not comfortable with someone airing our squabbles on another forum as if to say . . . . "the guys on this site aren't as appropriate or as sophisticated as those on the LP forum". I found it to be a betrayal of our site. I would hope Scott plans on sticking around and doesn't drop out of participating here on HOC. I would also hope that he rethinks protocol prior to his actions and his posts.
tulk1 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hmmmmm. Just spent the better part of 30 minutes reading all 3 threads and all the posts. 30 minutes I'll never get back. Some ... um .... objective observations from my own perspective. Original thread - I only saw one or two replies that had much vehemence in them. Seems nearly all of them started with our usual "Welcome". All mentioned how nice Scotts builds are - heck yeah, they're beautiful. None that I thought were direct attacks; mostly defensive stances on Heritage. Would seem normal, since we are at heart a Heritage forum. We have a couple of outspoken Heritage-ites; we know who they are and we love 'em for it. You won't find a more staunch supportor of Heritage Guitar than my buddy Kuz - he loves them with a passion that many of us will never fully understand. But, back to the posts. I just didn't see any personal attacks against Scott. Questions of why, how could you, is that legal, etc. Perfectly honest reactions and replies. As for Scott going to the MLP, a perfectly natural response. Of course you go home when you feel attacked or slighted. We'd all do that. And except for we all know who, I thought the replies on the MLP were right in line. So ... not really trying to play the devils advocate or peace maker (as if one were needed) or straddling the line, blah blah. Just saying I didn't see where the HOC got all deginerate in response, nor the replies at the MLP. In fact, I was rather surprised to read that anyone thought anyone was being rude, defensive or offensive. Just protective. Gee, no one said a darned thing when we all saw what Gregor did to one of his 150s.
