One final bit of advice from me.

If this guitar is calling you, and I mean REALLY CALLING for you, then get it. It could haunt you for a long time.

But, if you have reservations about the knobs, the color, the tone, the condition..... and you mainly see it as a GOOD deal, then walk away. Because I guarantee you that as soon as you purchase this guitar you will see a guitar you like more and that $1K is already gone!!! (this has happened to me a couple of times, so now I ask myself "Am I willing to sell something else? Does it fit an unmet tonal need?" because there is always that guitar I really wanted right around the corner.)

Good luck, and don't over think it, it will come to you.

Man! Nice!

My dream 535 is trans black with upgraded wood, chrome hardware and SD 59s or Seths.

I really like the grain in this! Character for days!

I have to agree wholeheartedly with Kuz on this one.

If you only want to buy it because it showed up unexpectedly, and you think it would be cool to have it, I say pass.

You'll find something better. And usually without looking too hard.

Don't get too hung up on the 'good deal' aspect, either. There are plenty of 'good deals' out there, if you're just patient.

It all depends on why you want it.

From the little I know about the other members of your harem, I think the H137 is a really good move. I enjoy mine primarily because it's such an excellent piece, but also because it's such a complete opposite to the Millie: no binding, no carving, no gold, no ebony, solid slab construction, beefy neck, growly P90's, simple all round. I know the H137 isn't the subject of this topic, but I wanted to point out that any guitar you add to your fleet should bring something new to it, something you don't already have.

And you already have a pretty nice H535. (I have pointed out its minor shortcomings in another post.)

You already know by now if the TransBlack is really calling your name. Like Kuz said, if so, then buy it. If not, bide your time.

Schundog - buy it, play it for a week then sell it to barrymclark! Win-win situation ;)

Update; I stopped by GC since I was working in Peoria today to take a second look at the 535 in a "quieter" time. The bottom two knobs are definitely volume/tone, and the guys there and I couldn't figure out for the life of us what the third knob did. That settled it; If it had the regular 4 knob configuration and ANY other pickups than Schallers, which I already have in my red 535, and would probably change out if it wasn't such a pain, AND if I hadn't sent off my payment for the aforementioned H137 today, I WOULD go ahead with this. None of that being the case, I cancelled the layaway. If any of you are interested, you can call the Peoria GC or PM me for more info. I snapped one more pic of the back; it IS a beauty.... By the look of the reflection of my gut in this last pic, perhaps I should spend more time at the gym, and less time here... Naaaahh.

Well.. good job keeping your impulses under control. You thought it out and made the decision that you can live with.

BTW... the third knob is the "Mojo" knob.

You can't hear it, but you can feel it when you turn it up and play.... :pardon_mini:
