schundog Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 At PSPIII, Lyle and I were sitting outside in the grass with a guy who had his yellow 137 case open. We were admiring it/talking to him about it, and he said he was thinking of selling it. Lyle was NO help in trying to talk me out of it, and I almost logged onto PayPal from my iphone right then and there to buy it, but refrained. The guy gave me his card, and said to call if I was interested. Now, nearly December, and a couple of phone calls later, it is on it's way here. This one was well used, and has some bumps and bruises to prove it, but I'm looking forward to getting her home and cleaned up, then deciding on a pickguard that Lyle has graciously offered me. Here is the pic the guy sent me of it: He is playing this guitar at PSP in the video "Old Love." If only I could play like that....
koula901 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 schundog, I'm excited for you. I have a 137 and love it. I could picture yours with a nice black finger rest - that'll give it some cool mojo.
FredZepp Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I love it. The bare essentials of tone, and it needs nothing else. A great example of the fine lumber and craftsmanship from Parsons Street. I like 'em with a few scars also... shows that they've been played.
NoNameBand Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Oh, I just love the smell of a New Guitar in the morning

Kuz Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Keep her naked... I vote no pickguard. Just my opinion, but I never saw a 137 that I thought looked better with a pickguard.
tulk1 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 You sitting outside in the grass with a guy? Do we get know who? Nice guitar, btw.
schundog Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 You sitting outside in the grass with a guy? Do we get know who? Nice guitar, btw. The guy is the web designer for Heritage, he said. I don't know if he's even an HOC member, but he was there at PSP, either as an HOC member or because of his affiliation with Parsons Street. Chuck Ruestenholz (sp?) is his name. MGoetting mentioned him in a recent thread about hearing a guy playing a Squier Strat in GC, and it sounding good. Mark went on to say how the guy has a 137, an American Strat, etc...blah blah blah....It was karma telling me to get the guys card out of my wallet, call him, and MAKE THE DEAL!! I'm not necessarily a "One in, One out" guy, but my cup runneth over. To help fund the deal, I sold my parts-tele (I never really liked the vintage frets, anyway) and my Boss GT-6 Multi Effects Processor. I've got the GT-8 and a Line 6 POD XT Live, anyway. For the Record, this will be my 4th Heritage, and NONE have come with a Pickguard!! LOL. Hey, us used buyers can't necessarily expect custom amenities. can we?! I THOUGHT it was korina, but I'm more inclined to believe it's only mahogany. We'll see.
FredZepp Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 He is playing this guitar at PSP in the video "Old Love." Yeah ,one of the reasons that I had to post that vid , was because I thought his playing was pretty cool.
LK155 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 You sitting outside in the grass with a guy? Do we get know who? Nice guitar, btw. Well, speak for yourself, Schundog. I distinctly remember that I was standing at the time. Yeah, nice guitar. One of the earlier ones with the paler yellow finish. You're going to enjoy the chunky neck. And the tone. And trying to decide which one(s) to bring to PSP next year.
blues Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Congrats on the 137. Im happy with mine. It really shines for me when I plug it direct into my tweed amp.
koula901 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Yes, that will become the HOC's theme music.
RJLII Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 schundog, I'm excited for you. I have a 137 and love it. I could picture yours with a nice black finger rest - that'll give it some cool mojo. Another vote for a black pickguard.
MartyGrass Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Chuck is a great guy. He always had a remarkable talent for guitar, even as a kid. He also was and is an easy guy to get along with. When many other bandmates had ego issues, he didn't. Interestingly, I met my wife at one of Chuck's gigs when we were in high school. I lent him my Twin Reverb that night.
tulk1 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I met Chuck at PsPII, then. I met both web designers. Nice guys. As for pickguard or not, I think they look great either way. Does that help?

Mark, that is a great story. But frankly, it's getting a little creepy; Of the three Heritage's I have now, I purchased 2 from you, the Millenium H-155 and the H-525. NOW, you're right in the middle of how I am going to end up with this 137, by having this long-standing relationship with this guy, and you starting a post about him playing in GC. You mentioned he had a Strat and a 137, and I KNEW it had to be the guy I had talked to at PSP. I had not forgotten about him, but you were the catalyst to get me moving on the deal. I'm afraid to show you pics of my Trans-Cherry 535, you probably have a connection there, too.... Chuck called me yesterday to report he was having a hard time finding a guitar box to ship the guitar, and UPS was closed, as well. I told him that I wasn't in a super rush, as I will be gone next Tuesday-Sunday for a Conference in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. (Just thought I'd rub that in. ) He seemed relieved that I wasn't in a rush, or upset about the slight delay, and said he would get the guitar shipped early next week. I'll update more once I get back home.
