Geez Patrick, 3 GE's and 2 SE's?! C'mon, don't you feel an urge to sell one of those? You must have been inspired by my recent wtb a SE posting.

yes, we could all read that the first time. Most would be ecstatic to own one of those...but 5? :drunken_smilie:

Five? . . . Sorry man, but I've got quite a few more than five. You're not asking me to feel guilty are you? ..... . Because, I've got another really cool Super Eagle on the come. Where are you from? If you are close to the New York or Philly area, we can get together . . .. jam a bit. Then we can chat about the next step. Talk to me man.

I miss Philly...especially the hoagies and cheesesteaks. Nope, I'm over on the left coast. No more morbid winters for this kid.

I'm thinkin' of pullin' the trigger on this one.

If this is a stock '95 model SE is it possible this is wearing HRW's?

The owner doesn't know what they are.

That's an absolute beauty! I love the finish on that one. It's very classic jazz guitar finish. Very "Gibsonesque", if you will. The pick ups are definitely Schaller. I don't think they're HRWs. Usually, guitars with 2 Schaller pups will have a dot on the pup selector switch. Black switch tip, white dot. White switch tip, black dot . . . etc. I believe that you're better off with the standard "Golden 50s" Schaller, which these appear to be. I have an H555 with Schaller HRWs and I don't care for them. Too hot . . . not at all warm enough for classic jazz standards . . in my opinion. The standard Schallers have that warm older jazz box tone to them in an arch top.

I saw the one on ebay with the P90s. I can't really comment on that one. It appears that no one is interested in it due to the added master volume knob on the upper bout and the P90s. Rockabilly???

If you can get that 1995 for under $3,000, I'd say go for it man. It's gonna be a long while before another one like it turns up for sale.

By the way, if you decide to not buy this gorgeous 1995 SE . . . please let me know who is selling it and where it is.

I wouldn't say nobody is interested. That one looks nice. I'm not getting it largely because at some point I'd like an H-575 w/ Mahogany & Spruce and some floating pickup(s) and if I bought a ~3K guitar right now my wife would have some REALLY sharp words to throw my way.

Still, that seems like a really cool setup on that one, it's just not in the cards for me. In fact, I really should not be looking at this point.

Okay Patrick, thanks for your expertise. I figured you'd be able to visually recognize if these were HRW's, but I'm hearing that's not the case?

Here's the deal with this guitar. The seller, a teacher, says he only buys 10's. The seller is a self proclaimed "non spec man", so he doesn't know which pups are on the guitar, but says they're mounted to the top. He further states he obtained it from a Luthier who commented it's one of the best he's ever seen. That's all I know about the guitar.

The thing that puzzles me about the guitar is every SE I've seen has a tailpiece bracket with the script "Super Eagle" in the center. I'm assuming someone removed that piece from this guitar, and the tailpiece section is buggin' me because it looks empty. Without that plastic script piece in the center it's got an ES 175 look goin' on at the bottom. I doubt that piece is available as a replacement part anywhere. Other than that lone issue, from what I've heard, it appears this is the one to buy. It's certainly priced right.

Okay, you've seen what I've seen and know what I know about this specific guitar. I'll keep you posted if I don't move on it in the next 48. I'm waiting to receive a clarification on the types of pups on the guitar.

Okay, I just received confirmation. As you suggested, the pups are stock Schaller's from Germany. Good eyes Patrick!

There is a blond 2009 SE on eaby. Floating neck pup. Finger tail piece. $2,500 starting bid. BUT!!! The 1995 that you're considering is still the one I'd be going after. That's a gorgeous jazz box. Picture it with an ebony insert in the tail piece . . . . similar to the one on my 1992 single pup in the photos I posted.

Absolutely the insert is available!! You may not be able to get the black plastic piece that says Super Eagle on it . . . but you can certainly have Heritage send you an ebony blank that any competent luthier can affix to the tail piece. And, who knows? Maybe Heritage does have the plastic piece also. I just looked at the rest of the photos you sent. If you really want a SE . . . and you have the bucks to buy one today . . . and you don't buy that one . . . then you're just nuts!!! It's really pretty. That is not a typical finish for Hertiage. It's more like a tobacco sunburst that you'd see on an L5 or a Super 400. I would love to own that guitar!!!

Are you sure about that, Patrick? My H535 has HRWs and has the dot on the switch, while my H150 Special has Schallers and no dot on the switch. The UK distributor has a couple of Natural H535s, one with HRWs (http://www.highendguitars.co.uk/heritage/X26502.htm), one with Seymours (http://www.highendguitars.co.uk/heritage/Y16903.htm). Not that it really matters!

Oh really, that TS isn't a common finish for them? I thought I'd not seen it commonly on their guitars. So it sounds like this would be a good player as well as a decent one to invest in? He's asking $3k, and has forwarded an appraisal from a local luthier.

If you guys were good this year, maybe Santa will put one of these under your tree!:icon_santa: Ho, ho, ho!!

Talk about a tease. Nice guitar! Judging by the fretboard that's a GE though isn't it?

Yeah . .. I misspoke the HRWs have the dot on the pick up selector switch. If you read the entire post . . . I explained it correctly, but incorrectly named the Schallers for the HRWs. But, he knew what I meant.

My favorite Heritage would be a Super Eagle with thin side dimensions, like 1.5-2.25". Antique natural, with fiddleback sides would be the ultimate! Your SE's look great!- Charles
