Hey Everyone,Im looking to trade my mint condition, late 90's 535 for a 150 and got an offer from a guy who has a 2004 150 with some what appears to be fairly heavy neck repair (see the 1 pic I have). He says the repair does not effect playability at all. Assuming that is true, what are each of our guitars worth? Should I be asking for some cash in addition to the trade, or does that repair look questionable enough that I should just keep looking?Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

If you have a mint condition 535, depending on the color and the hard ware/ pick up options, it's worth between $1,300 and $1,600. A dead mint H150 is worth around the same . . . or slightly less. If you look at the for sale thread, brentrocks has 2 dead mint 150s, a gold top and a black beauty (157) for sale asking $1,500. The neck repair on the 150 in the picture doesn't seem to be anything too serious. But, it will devalue the guitar. There are also other markings on the neck as well. I don't know what the other side looks like, but if it is as dinged up as the neck, I would estimate the value at around $800 . . at best!!! I don't usually do this . . . as I like each deal to speak for its self. Let the buyer beware. But, I'm making an exception in this case, because, I get a sense you are going to be hurt on this deal. If that 535 is as mint as you say it is . . . then sell it out right and keep looking for the 150 of your dreams. If you love the 150 with the head stock issues, I'd ask for $800 cash along with the 150 in the trade.

Thanks for the great info! You pretty much summed up my gut instinct, but wanted to do some homework..

Anyone else care to offer any advice?

I'd say if you have any reservations wait until you come across something you really want for a trade, or sell it outright. H-535's sell pretty well, and you should be able to find somebody with a really nice H-150. Of course, it depends on what your gut is telling you as well (i.e. if this is your "dream guitar" you're trading for, or one you have reservations about). But I think Patrick's assessment was pretty spot-on from what I've seen in sales & trades. Just for what it's worth.
