602a Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 OK it's not a Heritage but I'm trying this one before I buy one like Brent and High Flyin Bird's. I have never owned one and only played one once. I have a Explorer but got to likin the looks of a Firebird. If it works out maybe next year I can order a Custom one. Got this one at a great price.
schundog Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Cool!! I've never even held a Firebird, but had a Hamer Standard XT (Indonesian built Explorer Type) that I enjoyed. Time to get your Johnny Winter face on!! Enjoy it, and hopefully Marv will still be in the "357 Mood."
H Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I never really got on with my Gibson Firebird. Neck heavy with the banjo tuners and the mini humbuckers sounded a bit thin, a bit more like Fender humbuckers than the mini buckers you find on Gibson LPs occasionally. Sold it to finance my 170 and ended up with much more of a playable guitar.

MartyGrass Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 That was my first real guitar, an early 60's Fbird. I was 12. I got it from my neighbor. It was huge and heavy, but I was 4'10. In a couple of years it shrunk and fit just right. This is an ugly, badass guitar, part of a batch that Gibson unleashed for the rock and roll rebels. Talk about heritage. If yours is built as well, and it should be, you'll do fine with it.

MartyGrass Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Deal fell through. Win some lose some. I'm not just trying to make you feel better, but I'll better you'd like a H150 more.
NoNameBand Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I have had a '95 Gibby Firebird for a few years. I have to say that there is nothing like a real Firebird/357. I personally love the mini humbuckers. I think they are great rock/blues pups. Brent has a killer Korina 357 that I have played. But I have to say, the banjo tuners are cool, the mini humbuckers are unique and distinctive. I especially love the through neck. The combination of those special features: solid mahogany through neck & wings, mini humbuckers, banjo tuners in Tobacco burst make for a great guitar.
