This listing was on the Guitar Center website. It sold quickly.

I have no details.

You snooze, you lose. Even if it is just a 15 minute power nap.

How do you know it's gone? It still comes up on the Guitar Center website. Might be worth checking out if any of you are looking for one.

I called before I posted.

I'm not looking for a 535. But this was tempting.

I talked to someone in sales there. I was gone in an hour. He didn't know what condition it was in. Usually the guitars are pretty nice or they won't take them in trade.

I still suggest personally examining a guitar before buying unless you don't mind risk and hassle. I'm returning a "NOS" Heritage archtop that arrived last night with over a dozen dings and a chip. The seller is a large dealer and has been fine with the return. It's disappointing though.

The best comparison to buying sight unseen is air travel. Don't even bother to buy a ticket if you can't handle flight delays and cancelations. It's just part of the package for the veteran traveler.

I saw that around 11am this morning. I figured it would go. Food for thought. Guitar Center's new policy is 50% of what they think they can sell a guitar for is what they give you. Someone sold a Heritage H535 for $325!!!!! Holy Cow!

Gotcha. I thought maybe it was some strange computer error. That certainly went quick.

Wow! I was wondering how much they got screwed selling it or trading it in to Guitar Center. But $325!!!!!! That's insane.

It's not that simple. Often they take the guitar in trade, like a car dealer.

Still, they don't usually offer what you could get if you sold it yourself.

That's probably true. Still, I'm wondering if they got less than $600 toward another guitar, or why it only sold for $650. I can't imagine they got that much toward another guitar, unless it's some Guitar Center inflated markup. In that case, I'm wondering if maybe the people at Guitar Center (or maybe the owner who sold it) didn't know how much it was worth, or if there was some bizarre reason it sold/traded for so low. I am kind of presuming they gave the guy less than their out-the-door selling price to put it toward a new guitar though. Who knows how their pricing structure works? I sure don't.

Regardless, that's insane pricing by the time it gets onto the GC page. I also wonder if that means (based on their trade-in value policy) that somebody actually thought a presumably nice H-535 was actually worth $325 cash value to buy (and thus a $650 out-the-door value). There almost has to be something about it. I doubt we'll ever find out, but it's still kind of interesting.

Mark,

Sometimes even Mother Teresa stopped to admire the scenery!
