Heritageman Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I am going to pull out the set of Schallers pickup that are in my 150 and replace them with Seymour Duncan 59 set. I'm going for that Gary Moore tone ,would have like to buy those WCR Green/Moore set....but at $325.00 i will give the SD a chance ;D
Heritageman Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 Why not try a set of the SD Greenies? This is the first time i heard of thouse ??? I will look into them
jacques Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 or try brentrocks, our forum member that wishes to take out his EMG's from his Gary Moore signature H150 by putting the EMG's in yours you may get some of Moores tone (don't think you will, though...Moores tone is mostly in his fingers) :-
brentrocks Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 i'm not familliar w/ Moores solo stuff, just the Thin Lizzy stuff, but the SD Alnico Pro IIs i just put in the GM, i think, are very good for that style of music. a lot has to do with your rig too....the pups are just a small part.
Thundersteel Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 i'm not familliar w/ Moores solo stuff, Look for his "Still Got the Blues" CD. He's phenominal!
brentrocks Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Look for his "Still Got the Blues" CD. He's phenominal! i will do that
jamison162 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 In my opinion, the 59's are too aggressive esp. in a Heritage. Unless yours is ultra lightweight or chambered. I bought my WCR's used. I have a Godwood Bridge, Darkburst Bridge, and a Crossorads Neck. Best pickups I've heard. I've had Wolfetones, SD, the stock Golden Age, etc. I still haven't tried my Sheptones that I bought weeks ago.....
tulk1 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Why not give Bryan Gunsher at PG Pups a shout, tell him what you're after and let him custom wind some for you? Very affordable, too. I've got several of his Single Coils and love them.
brentrocks Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Look for his "Still Got the Blues" CD. He's phenominal! i'm watching a pair on ebay...i will end up w/ 1 of them ;D always up for new music
