Eagle question(s) ....

Been a while since I've been a Heritage owner .... but an Eagle recently caught my eye ..... not sure which version it is, however, has a jazz pickup @ neck with vol and tone control on pickguard. Definitely lit a lil' bit of intrigue and excitement for me - believe it is old-sunburst/almond-burst kinda goodness. Not normally what I've been keen on lately, but that's all good.

Got some questions - prolly gonna sound noob-ish and a lil' bit repetitive ...

Question:

Weight-wise, where do these models tend to sit?

Tone-wise, where will I want to be go with my playing - using primarily Dr Z amps on a clean-er setting - straight-in to amp, chorus? delay? 'verb?

Cost-wise, will it be worth thinning out the herd .... got a coupla guitars that ain't seeing any play-time?

Obviously those are very wide-open general questions .... and I realize I should be posting some pics ..... but like I said, been a while since I've been on-board and any input will be greatly appreciated.

cheers always, eh

Hello Joel, or should I call you "Eagle Eye"? Joel, those are all good questions, very subjective though. I say, get what you want, try the pedals and see what you like. You have a great amp, get to it. Good luck and enjoy the adventure.

Hey Joel,

Yeah, join the club.

From what I've seen and been told, the difference between the Eagles is largely the cosmetics, hardware, and woods. So you might be able to figure out which model it is based on the pickup config, inlays (or lack thereof), Rosewood vs. Ebony board, figuring, binding, gold vs. chrome hardware, and tons of other stuff somebody who actually knows what they're talking about can (and probably will) chime in on.

As for why I'm chiming in, it's a bit of a topic-bump, and I want one too. :icon_thumright:

I suspect your questions are largely subjective, except the weight. But you could probably play them acoustically, through a chorus, delay, reverb, overdrive, or most anything else. Obviously they aren't ideal for high-gain or high-volume due to feedback, and I suspect most use them largely for jazz or cleaner playing most of the time, but some have mentioned using them for rock. They can speak up about that. Still, it'd be fun to experiment and see what works for you in certain circumstances. As for the rest, or for more authoritative views of Heritage Archtops, I'll let others who know more first-hand chime in.
