CJTopes Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I Believe that my HRWs have 4 wire leads. Any opinions on coil taping HRWS and the results? I'm think about doing this on my Millie DC. Any recommended pots or caps to use.
MartyGrass Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 My old DC had HRWs with coil taps. This worked okay.
Millennium Maestro Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Yes it works great! 500K push pull pot is all you need.... I use MOJOTONE no need to upgrade anything else. 702-460-1804 if you have ??? Guy
MartyGrass Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 MM is right. I should have sounded more excited. The HRW splits very well.
tulk1 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 The PSPII White Boy H555 Custom came with coil taps for both pickups. It does a VERY convincing single coil. Especially for a semi-hollow. Gets very Tele-ish. Not sure what pots or caps are used in the Heritages, but it sure seems to work.
Millennium Maestro Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Ok here it is... I believe without double checking the yellow and green lead are tied together and isolated in an HRW 4 lead standard wiring... This gives you the full humbucker in series. Take those 2 wires to the middle lead on a push pull pot, ground the bottom lead on the same side terminal as the one you used(there are 2 sides of 3 terminals by the way) .... you are done, its that simple. Pulling up on the pot grounds the yellow and green eliminating one coil!
CJTopes Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks a lot. Very Helpful. I'm having issues with one of the Vol Pots so I may just replace them all since I'll be in there anyway.
Mikenov Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hey CJ, can't help with your question but... go Bears. By the power of Ditka we will be victorious at Lambeau
CJTopes Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Oh man, not another one. I'm hearing a lot of jaw flapping from Bears fans lately. You'll need the "power of Ditka" to beat us in Lambeau.
