radius discrepancy

Hey to everyone, I'm new and this is my first post. In fact, I signed up to ask this question-Is there a difference between the radius of the fingerboard of 535's and 157's and the radius of Schaller roller type bridges? I have just been made aware of this possibility and looking back, the D string always seemed to rest closer to the fingerboard than the outer strings. Is the Schaller bridge flatter than the fingerboard? This seems to be an issue on all my Heritages.

Thanks...

Welcome HGL..How many Heritages do you have?

Hi.

My guitar-tech measured my H150 and found out the bridge was 16 and fingerboard 12. Apart from that i know nothing about radiuses on other heritage-guitars

About 15 years ago, I purchased a beat up neglected H535, brought it back t health and fell in love with these instruments. I still have that one and 8 other Heritages. The beauty of the craftsmanship was what got me. There have been some technical issues though but nothing I am not willing to work with.

H 535 x4

H 555 x1

H 157 x2

H 575

Sweet 16

The 575 and Sweet 16 do not have the radius discrepancy. But the others with the schaller roller bridge do. It's not a big deal but I think they can play better.

Some of us on the forum, myself included, have changed the Schaller roller bridge for the now Heritage standard fitment of TonePros kit. The TonePros TP6 bridge, a Nashville type, has a 12in radius.

Count me as one who has changed out the Schaller roller for a TP6. I had exactly the problem you describe with the D string, and the TP6 cured it immediately.

Factory radius in 14" on fingerboards, frets and bridges

You sure? Most Gbrands are somewhere in the 10"-12" zone. All of my Heritage have been 12" radius. I never bothered to measure that Schaller bridge because one was never on my guitar long enough for me to care about it.

That sounds like one heck of a collection, would love to see some pics!

Welcome, hgl. And yeah.. any pics would be appreciated here.

Fretboard for Heritage 12" radius, Schaller bridge 14" radius.

Shouldn't cause any problems if the action is higher at the bass side.

I agree. To my knowledge, all Heritage guitars unless specially ordered, are 12" radius. The TonePros pre-cut bridges is spec'ed to be a 12" radius. You can however, get the un-cut version of the TonePro bridge and have your guitar tech custom fit it to your guitar. They can cut each saddle to follow the guitar's radius.

All Heritage guitars are stock at 12" radius.

Change to tonepro's bridge, increase your sustain (and in my opinion improve the tone as well), plug in and ROCK (or jazz out, you know what I mean,LOL)

Unless you think "Higher Action" is a problem.

Thanks for all the replies and information. I will be looking into the Tone Pros setup. Does the Tone Pros drop right in or will there be modifications necessary?

Here is an attempt at attaching a photo of one of the guitars. If this one makes it through, I'll post the rest.

Thanks and enjoy your guitars.....

I see the attachment did not get through, says it skipped. Got to go right now but will get them in there, maybe reducing the size would help.

wow! 4 535s and 1 555! that's quite a collection of heritage semi-hollow goodness right there.

Yeah, those guitars are my favorites I guess overall. G&L's are great instruments as well. I finally got a photo to attach so I will be sending some other photos as well. The 555 is almond SB.

No mods necessary :) Have a chat with the guys at Marquis Distribution in CA who are very familiar with the fitments for Heritage models and can supply all finishes (nickel, chrome, gold, aged, black, etc) from stock. They're on the web so you can google them.

I've dealt with them personally and recommend their great service.
