Gitfiddler Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 OK, the H-157 is Heritage's version of the venerable LP Custom, replete with bindings everywhere and pimp-a-licious gold trim. But I've never seen a three pickup version in the Heritage lineup. To me that seems odd since that was the old 'top dog' model back in Kalamazoo. Considering Heritage' ability to fill custom orders, I'd bet there's at least one three p'up H-157 owner out there. Have any of you seen one? ???
Dick Seacup Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Oooh, a Frehley (or was it Frampton? What is it with people with F-last names wanting three pickups, anyway?) H-157! I don't know if any were built, but maybe it's not in the line up because there just isn't that much demand for them any longer?
Gitfiddler Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 LOL, yep, those 'F' guys seemed to like a middle p'up on their gits. Well I had one, but it was such a boat anchor at 11lbs, sadly that otherwise sweet tone monster had to go. That's why I wonder if Heritage ever came out with one. Maybe one is in my distant future. Here's a glamor shot of that heavy Black Beauty (and yes, I miss her): http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/4618/blackbeautyau5.jpg[/img]
golferwave Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Heritage made a 3 pickup H-157 for a time and I believe it was called the "Triple Tuxedo" model. I'm not sure how long they were made or when it was discontinued.
rjsanders Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 i played a new one about a year ago while stopping by CBPerkins in San Jose. interesting wiring. really nice guitar. either the neck or middle pickup was a Seymour PhatCat, which is a really nice drop-in P90 replacement for a 'bucker. 8)
specs Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Hi guys, first post here. Here are several pics of my only Heritage. 2001 H-157 Triple Tuxedo. Pulled off ebay several years ago.
wingnut1 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Very nice, I have the two pickup version and I like it a lot. You must really enjoy playing the triple.
Dick Seacup Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I like how the pole pieces are all on the same side. Did it come that way, or did you flip one? Does it have a flipped magnet, too, or is it like the "Peter Green Mod?" Very nice looking guitar.

I bought it used from ebay and did not get any information from the previous owner. Comparing the pole pieces to the Gibson Black Beauty pictured above by Gitfiddler, if the pickup was flipped, the bridge and middle were both flipped. As for the magnet or Peter Green Mod, I have read about this but just don't know.
DrFrankStein Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I am not a fan of gold hardware, but it really works on that guitar!!!
Gitfiddler Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Specs~ Hello, Welcome to the board and thanks for posting pics. Yes, I REALLY like your 'triple tuxedo' very much. How is yours wired? With the pickups reversed, you should get some really intersting tones. My old Black Beauty was modded with a master tone pot, so I could dial in or out the middle pickup on or off for some really cool 'Stratty'tones, and extemely heavy tones and everything in between. If I ever considered getting one form Heritage I'd custom order EXACTLY what I'd want: Master Tone wiring; Aged binding; Extra lightweight Honduran Mahogany body; Thick '59 'D' shaped neck profile; 2 Duncan 59's and a JB in the bridge.
