A storm is coming to Germany

after you get the guitar, definitely let it sit in the box for a day. Then take the CASE out of the box and let it sit another day. Only after that should you open the case. You don't want to risk an instantaneous "relic" job on your finish. Also you avoid condensing moisture all over the thing.

"The Storm" arrived yesterday evening!

I do exactly what you suggested.

I will put the case out of the box this evening and open the case Friday morning.

So it will still take two days 'till I can present you some pics.

That's really really hard for me, 'cause I have no patience at all.

That's the most conservative advice I'll ever seen on temperature adjustment. I have not hesitated taking the case out of the box directly and putting the case in a room temperature spot. After an hour or two I pop the lid for a second and close it, mainly 'cause I have to peek. I repeat that every hour or so until I go to bed. The next morning I get the thing out. Sometimes I expedite the process. All of these comments are only for solid body guitars though. Hollows slowly warm a full day before opening the case for the first time.

I may be lucky but so far, so good. And I've been doing this in Kalamazoo for decades. If someone has had problems with that approach, I'd take tbonesullivan's advice. Better safe than sorry. A day or two warming is not a big deal in the larger picture.

Beautiful guitar, Guido! Bet you peeked at it already though ;)

Believe it or not, but I really didn't!

I have a day off tomorrow. My wife will be at work and my kid will be in the Kindergarten.

So I'll have a whole morning to spent with my new guitar!!!

In Germany we say: "Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude!"

It means something like: the excitement before you get something is actually better than the excitement when you have it.

So I will still enjoy this excitement today and will open the case tomorrow morning.

Isn't that the truth. Enjoy your new guitar day. Do me a favor and play it hard!

It's a beauty. :icon_thumright:

The pics look delicious..

I'd have shortened that schedule to open it from that one.

..but since you've got a morning that you can open it and spend some time enjoying it.. that makes sense. It's almost time... joyous day.

I am waiting for your pictures and comments. So far it looks to be a beautiful guitar.

I am catching up on this thread and WOW from the pics this just might be the most dead on '59 looking 'burst I have ever seen.

Guido, you have been patient, but we are not!!! Must give us the mandatory HOC NGD pics ASACO (As Soon As Case Opened)!

Lightning is a SD '59 in the neck and thunder is a SD JB in the bridge (would be really great!).

At least according to the seller. But he is not very familiar with Heritages, so I guess I better prepare for two SD '59er pups.

I don't get it. The seller is not very familiar with Heritages but is an authorized dealer? Strange.

I agree . . . it is strange. Also, look closely at the shading on the top of the guitar. Do you see a very definitive line transitioning the color on the left hand side of the top as you're looking at it? Also, what Guido was so excited by. . . "storm clouds" on the back of the guitar seems to me to be more of a finish smudge. That's not a characteristic wood anomaly. Same thing on the back of the neck in 2 different places. But, if they were finish smudges or flaws, I would think Guido would have picked that up in his visual inspection and mentioned it along with the other problems. I'd be real interested in looking at that guitar in persons. It leaves many unanswered questions.

He told me that he is an official dealer starting this year. So Heritage is knew to him and he has to get adjusted.

He seems really like a nice guy and is trying to help. The reason why he didn't respond at first was his attendance at NAMM.

The color line transition you saw is only in this picture. Maybe it's from the flash.

The finish looks in the studio pics much redder than in real. In real the color looks a little bit pale, but still very nice.

The cloud on the back is in real not there. It must be from the flash. It is a very nice looking back. First I thought it's a one piece back,

but a closer look reveiled a two piece back. Almost non visible!

The two lighter marks at the back of the neck are visible, but didn't bother me.
