SouthpawGuy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 H-170CM 1986 Cherry Burst Duncan P-Rails It only took me two years to take pics of this one ! And yes it sounds as good as it looks. Smokin' !!!
koula901 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Southpaw Guy You're not sellin' that are you! You're such a tease! It's very nice! Looks like it's coil-tapped.
tulk1 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 He's just showing off. .................................
cod65 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 sweet lil ride. I'm thinking of moving my p-rails from my 575 back to my 140. I took it to a gig and found that it wasn't very versatile in a noisy blues club. I have yet to try the p-rails in the 158, so maybe that is the next experiment.
FredZepp Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 There is a lot to like about that one !!! I love that it's an '86. One of those made in their first years. It has an amazing top and then the P-rails.... well that is just excellent. Great mahogany and looks to be in great condition. Sweet.
SouthpawGuy Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 He's just showing off. ................................. word dude ! Well sort of. I've taken pics of all my other Heritage guitars so this one was way overdue. I felt it was my duty as a devout HOC'er to share images of this beautiful guitar with my online buddies. I feel a small tear coming on.

Probably not any time soon I'm afraid. I'll keep you in mind if I ever do though. It did originally have Schaller pickups and roller bridge / tailpiece with factory installed VIP, vari phase setup, hence the three mini switches. I had the pickups and hardware replaced by Pete Moreno. Two of the switches were replaced with three way minis, with series humbucker / P-90 / single coil ("rail") available independently for each pickup. This was my first P-Rail guitar, I now have two others, the '96 H-535 and a Carvin CT6. One more for the road, as they say ...
skydog52 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 What a beauty. I can't believe you took so long to share. I love that color! The only thing I see wrong is the controls are on the wrong side. : - ))
big bob Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 That is one sweet 170. bet she sounds great with the p-rails. I have them in my 575 and love um.
bobmeyrick Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Very useful pickups, P-Rails. I put a set into an Edwards Les Paul, with a couple of push-pull tone pots to give coils-in-series/P90 coil/rail coil/coils-in-parallel. Just recently I bought a couple of the Triple Shot mounting rings, and installed the P-Rails in my Godin Freeway. The Triple Shots give all four options, but for the individual pickups rather than for both at the same time. I also replaced the tone pot with a push-pull which connects the neck and bridge pickups together, so in addition to the normal 5-way options I get neck+bridge and all three pickups together. The only slight drawback is that the P-Rail is slightly smaller than the Godin bridge pickup. Perhaps Seymour Duncan should make a trembucker P-Rail. I've attached a couple of photos - you can see the switches on the top edge of the mounting ring. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/new-products/seymour_duncan_9/
