Halowords Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I suppose this is not specifically a Heritage thing, but are there any "Moby Dick's" out there you're really obsessed with? I have two main ones, both Heritage. 1) I would live a Heritage Eagle w/ a Spruce top, floater or single neck pickup (maybe a P90), and an Old Style Sunburst finish. Kind of like this: Only with a tone volume and a different tailpiece. 2) I love my Prospect Custom (Blues Dlx.). However, for some reason, I would love an H-535 in an Antique Sunburst with block inlays (split or otherwise). So I really want this: Or this Only as an H-535 Custom job. Any of the rest of you have that one (or more) you're really obsessing about?
hubberjub Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I'm really am looking for something Gretschy. It's got to have a Bigsby and some twang to it. I always keep an eye out for a 575 that I could slap a Bigsby and some TV Jones pickups on. Anyone have a 575 they want to work a trade on a 150 for? Shoot me a PM.
cod65 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I would love to find an h-357 lefty, as several other sinisterians probably would concur. I don't know if they ever made one.
kbp810 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 My next Heritage acquisition will be by way of custom order. So very soon I will stop chasing my white whale and be ready to fire the harpoon!
tbonesullivan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 some kind of 12-string electric. Does heritage make any? I'm definitely NOT a fan of Rickenbacker 12s. neck too narrow. Also something with Mini HBs. Now if only I didn't have 10 electrics already.
smurph1 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I would LOVE to get me a H-150 with HRW's, but I made a vow to save and pay off medical bills this year..So Maybe I'll get one in 2012..Besides, I bought 3 guitars last year..It's not like i don't have anything to play..

Halowords Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Let me amend my H-535 "White Whale" guitar. H-535 w/ bound head & neck, Dark Antique Sunburst or Dark OSB finish, P90 or Phat Cat (or similar) in the neck, splittable Sheptone bridge pickup and Out-of-Phase wiring option w/ Push/Pull pots, matching flamed maple pickguard, chunky neck, and Super 400 style split block inlays. With my Prospect, I'm not even sure I NEED another semi-hollow, but man, that would look and feel (and hopefully sound for that matter) amazing! I think those darker brown a/o black burst finishes over a rich brown color that have an aged/antiquated furniture-like appearance seem like works of art.
skydog52 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 H-170, Phat Cat pickups, large headstock, white bound body, neck and headstock, nickel hardware, ultra top, MOP Heritage and Custom inlay in headstock, belly cut with thicker body, 5 piece maple neck, 1 3/4 nut with a sunsetburst finish. Did I forget anything? Hope not. Getting ready to place the order!
tbonesullivan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 by the way, I bet they would make you one if you asked.. true, but that's a lotta coin for something I'm not even sure I want yet. I would probably first get a cheapy to make sure that it's something I'd use aside from doing 60's and tom petty covers.
tulk1 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I'm chasing a Heritage Mandolin. Thought I had one late last year, but we couldn't come to terms. It was an A model. I'd prefer an F model. But honestly, I'd take either. Wouldn't mind finding an old Heritage banjo along the way, too.
squawken Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 It would STILL have to be a White 150 or 157, and then a Silverburst. Arrrgh
rooster Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 White-and-tan H150 with Bill & Becky Lawrence's L610s and aged binding. Oh, and the maple top would have to be the plainest, hardest piece in the shop. They hate painting whites, though. rooster.
bebove64 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 First White Whale: defintely h535 alsb or asb with SD Seth Lover or '59;This will be my next Moby Dick! Second W.W.:Eagle classic or Golden Eagle(I'looking for a really jazz mellow warm sound);I'got already a h575 custom natural. Capt Achab
Gitfiddler Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 To late. My 'white whale' obsession guitar arrived last October. Custom ordered H525 P90, Sunset Burst, Chunky neck, Bound headstock, Pearl inlayed Heritage logo. Amazing in every respect!
pegleg32 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 There's a 150 w/90s on the Bay I'm looking crossways at. Can't make up my mind. Wondered if anyone else was looking at it?

I would probably first get a cheapy to make sure that it's something I'd use aside from doing 60's and tom petty covers. i bought this am std tele conversion last year: it's kool to have an electric 12-str if ya can swing it. mine doesn't see that much action but it helps round out the herd. there's a janglebox headed my way; if internet chat can be believed, the 12-str will sound pretty wondrous thru it, even though not a ric! a heritage 12-str would be very neat!
mars_hall Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 From the first day I held one, brand spanking new and shining, I've needed one of these. Just an incredible guitar and made by the folks on Parsons Street, an L5-s.
H Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Gretsch English Gentleman. Failing that, a black 530 with Phat Cats or FilterTrons...
Guest HRB853370 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I am obsessing over a 535, with Seth Lover pups, but definitely NOT in white. I had a chance to get a translucent red (2009) on Ebay, but passed as it was Christmas time and no money. Seller had it for $1459 and he told me he would go $1300 on it. That would have been a steal IMO. Guess I will have to just wait it out. I love my 555, it has all the appointments one could as for. I just need to join the 535 club now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220712326448&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

SouthpawGuy Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Today .... Just like that would be fine. If I wanted to get picky ... 1. maybe chrome hardware, not nickel. 2. Lindy Fralin P-92s. A silent P-90 in a humbucker sized housing. I have his noiseless dog ear P-90s in my 137 and the more I play them the more I'm loving them. 3. Light coloured back, not dark. That way all of the wood grain is visible. 4. Possibly a light weight version, I'm not into weight lifting these days. Or specify a build weight of say 9lbs ? 5. Maybe change the black speed knobs out to silver topped ones. Top hats I think they're called. 6. I'm thinking about this too much, aren't I.
mars_hall Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 That reminds me of the Academy. I can see the resemblance. These were/are carved-topped solid bodies with all the appointments of the L-5 hollow bodies. The shape is very similar to the super stripped down L-6s that Santana made "famous".
