MartyGrass Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I just dropped off my evil H157 to put in new pups. When I got the guitar I intended on these changes but adjusted okay to the Bill Lawrences on it. That required using flat wounds to get deeper tones though. Playing around with the H150 with P-Rails got me the courage to push the envelope on the H157. I brought in a gold Phat Cat and two nickel HRWs along with the axe to Pete Moreno. I expected to have him swap the nickel covers for gold. It would have cost me about $15 per cover. Instead he sold me like new gold Schaller Golden 50s for $20 each. I really like those pups on H157s, so I decided to save the HRWs for something else. My pup rings are ebony, so he needs to reshape them to fit the Schallers and Phat Cat. The caps won't be changed. There will be three volume controls and a master tone pot. The upper or forward pots are for the bridge and neck volumes and will be push-pull to split. The third volume will control the Phat Cat with a push-pull to kill the pup. The toggle switch will remain as it is and only controls the neck and bridge pickups in the normal manner a two pup guitar uses. While all the hardware is off he'll buff the guitar. Here are the "before" pics. I'll post the "after" one in a couple of weeks.
