nuke Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Just a dumb question. I've owned my '98 H150 since I bought it from Buffalo Brother's at the guitar show in Marin in 2004. It was lightly used when I got it, but man, what an awesome, great playing guitar. It's just amber, although the label in the control cavity says it is sunburst. Beats me, i just play it. I was curious about the hardware and pickups on it. My understanding is that it is all Schaller. But what bridge and what pickups exactly? I'd like to replace one of the bridge saddles and was wondering if I can buy the saddles separately? Also, what pickups came with it? I'm told Schaller, but is there a specific model? Just curious more than anything else.
Hfan Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Welcome to the club nuke. Is it a roller bridge with each string adjustable side to side? If so, sounds like a Schaller. Lots of guys have replaced them here maybe someone has some spare parts. Try posting in the for sale / wanted to buy section. A picture might help as well. The pickups sound like Schallers as well, usually came with 3 screw holes on each side of the p up cover. I'm no p up expert but I think they are an alnico 5 PAF type. Think they where called Golden age or something. Stew mac sells one similiar called Golden era I believe. Check out this recent thread http://www.heritageo...vs-seth-lovers/
proxmax Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 mine came with tonepros II and SD blackbacks. both are swapped. now it has haeussel custom pups and bridge with brass saddles and alu STP. tonepros stuff is for sale.
nuke Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 I need to take a picture of it one of these days. What can I say, it's a player and it got gigged a lot when I was still gigging. The bridge and tailpiece look like proxmax's picture, more or less like a Gibson nashville tune-o-matic and stop bar tail piece. The pup's look like regular old nickel covered humbuckers. Two pickup screws, one on either side of the retaining rings. Looks like any other LP model, more or less.

If it looks like the one above you can change the saddles, but you have to know the vendor or measurement of your bridge saddles since the saddle pieces are not always the same. String savers are nice or tusq
Millennium Maestro Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I would not be surprised if you lifted the pickups and found them to be Seymour 59's.
Millennium Maestro Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Proxmax.... Definitely love your little baby!! Never seen Heritage use sh-5 as a factory install... commonly they used 59'ers( if its factory)

TalismanRich Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Your best bet for checking the pickups is to pull one the next time you are changing strings and look on the bottom side. With single screw mounting on each side, the could be 59's or Seth Lovers. Schaller pickups use double screws on each side.

Seymour Duncan 59's it is! I think the Seth Lovers might be even better. It's a great guitar, I've always loved it. Even unplugged, it sounds good. I can feel the strings vibrating solidly in the wood itself. Hands down, the best bang for buck ratio out of my whole fleet.
bolero Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I'm a big fan of Seth Lovers, have a set in my millenium definitely more open sounding than '59's, which aren't bad pickups either
proxmax Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 you should try PRS 57/08 pups. one of the best for that guitar.
