Guido Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Hello! Looks I found something I like after "The Storm". It's completely different: a H157 Black Beauty. I always loved these customs and the fact that Les Paul himself asked for that "tuxedo" look. I think it's a very classy guitar and for me this is pure rock 'n roll. Does anybody know the dealer? Here's a link: guitarsandeffects.com - Heritage H157 Are these HRW's? (white tip on the pup switch)
skydog52 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Yes that is an indication that they are HRW pickups. It's always best to ask. That is a Black Beauty!
MartyGrass Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I'm suspicious. No brick and mortar. No phone. The H157 is "on consignment". The photos are professional looking. This implies someone shipped his guitar to an unnamed place where it was inspected, photographed and listed. I wouldn't do that. Look at the capital he purports to have invested but no address. This dealer could be legit but also could fold in a month or two and disappear with your money. Credit cards only give you partial insurance. The guitar could have HRWs. The white spot could be a glare. That's common.
tulk1 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Nat Bradley, Maryland, USA. Online dealer, only. He's married, and is a Pieces (according to the "old and outdated" astrological charts ) Those are some very cool, and very professional pictures. BTW, don't take this as an endorsement of this dealer. I found all this on MySpace.
Guido Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 He seems to be a nice guy. Says he is in business for 9 years. The pups are HRW's and the guitar is from early 2008 (Y serial). I asked him for other pictures where I can see the guitar better. So I will wait for the pics and decide what I will do.
mars_hall Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Not that it means a lot, but I have had the website in my bookmarks list since at least June 2007. Seems like I may have bought something (pups probably) from him back then but I have bought many things so can't be sure.
Patrick Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 This guy has been around for a while. I would feel comfortable dealing with him . . . but as Marty Grass said . . . credit card only. I would NOT utilize Pay Pal. I would go direct with a credit card only. I would also insist on a "contract of sale" . . to be sent to me prior to consummating the deal. Contract should be as definitive as possible, but, most specifically; serial number,, final negotiated price, inclusive of shipping costs,, stated description and condition of guitar and case. I would insist on having that in my possession (not included in the case pocket when the guitar is shipped) prior to the deal. Have it sent to you by fax or email. That will ensure your recourse with the credit card company if you need to seek it. If he doesn't want to comply with that . . I would not do the deal. I recently bought a Gibson LP Gold Top from a guy with no brick and mortar under the same stipulations. When the guitar I received was different than the guitar I thought I was going to receive, I contacted Am Ex and they told me that because the deal was so explicitly defined before I bought the guitar, if I chose to return it, I would not be held responsible for the charge . . even if the seller was a fraud. They would chase him and absolve me from any further responsibility. As it turned out, I kept the guitar and I love it dearly . . . but, I did have the recourse if I needed it.
