Called to order a catalog, but shop closed due to weather. Man, I didn't think ANYTHING in Michigan closed due to weather!

It's cold and the snow is mounting up! Skinslamer, almost everything is closed up here. Might be hard to find a turkey, they are probably all huddled together.

We only got 6" in Canton (Mich). The Media reported that we were going to get 10-15"...as usual, they were wrong. Still a snow day though...I think I'll go play my guitar...

That's why it sucks to live up North. I used to love snow, but now I don't even want to see it. I feel sorry for all you Lady's and Men who use a shovel or blower to get to your house. It's 35 here in Baton Rouge but NO Snow till Thursday. They will close the city if one flake falls. Me I'm cooking Flounder and Crawfish Etouffee for supper to get ready for Boiled Crawfish for the Super Bowl.post-2267-039057000 1296657124_thumb.jpeg

In Cincinnati , we've been getting ice and rain.

After everything was iced up for a while, it warmed up enough that we had a very cool, hard rain.

I lost electricity early in the evening... so I spent the night playing acoustic guitars to candlelight...

( it was crazy windy overnight, and now it's really windy and cold... great.)

Mmmm crawfish.. that sounds great. I'm still working out what we're doing food wise here.

That storm came thru here - KCMO area. Down here in Pec we got 16" +. Then there's the drifting. I had one door that would open this morning, and it opens inward. I have a 5ft retaining wall that I can look down on. And a 5ft drift right outside Shelley's garage door. She has the 4WD. They even shut down our building today. Told us to stay home. Shel is out trying to dig out the outside vehicle, and then we're headed up to the gate to dig that out. Funsville. But! we haven't lost the electricity. Snow didn't really stick to the trees or power lines. I'd say we were very lucky!

We were hit by the same storm, but were south of the snow line, than meant ice! Everyone was freaked because of the memories we all have of the ice storm of '06. I was without power for 4 days. We got a little more than a half inch of ice on my deck and trees, followed by 3-4 inches of sleet, followed by 3 inches of snow. So far, not many power outages (knock wood). Of course they're expecting high winds and sub zero temps today/tonight, which could change the whole thing for the worse.

C'MON SPRINGTIME!!!

This was the view out my front window this morning; somewhere between 12-18 inches, and it's blowing like crazy. Blizzard warning until 12:00 noon, then a wind chill warning from 6:00pm til sometime tomorrow. No work yesterday or today, except from my laptop or cell. I doubt any customers made it in, either.

I bet it smells good in your house! I think we got about a foot of snow last night. Winters don't usually bother me, I'm from Bufalo, NY and when I moved to the Boston area I thought everyone was just a bunch of winers whenever an inch or two fell, but hell, we've gotten about 60" this year. Think I'll go join the winers! ; )

Now . . . Katy, I would be a "winer" . . . as would Mark (NoNameBand) Owens. I believe that you are referencing, "whiners". As in the people from Boston who usually whine and cry when my beloved Yankees kick the Red Sox's butts. (Although, it's kind'a been the other way around for the past couple of years hasn't it?) Anyway, I just thought I would razz you on that before our resident grammar coach, the indomitable Mr. Rob "yoslate" Slater does. However, out of deference to his profession, I'll leave it up to him to point out that a girl from Buffalo, spelled Buffalo with only one f. As I'm sure you know, there are 2 "f"s in Buffalo . . . but, to your point, there is also "2" much "f"n snow in buffalo. Many fond memories of fine dining in Warren's up in Tonowanda. I wonder if they are still there? As you can tell, I'm bored to death being locked in my office due to this nasty weather. Just looking for something to ramble on aimlessly with.

Here we are in snowy Wisconsin, a couple hundred miles north of Brian, and we got 12" on top of the 6" that we got the day before. That all fell on the piles that still covered the ground, snowy since early December. But it could have been worse, just 70 miles east, toward Milwaukee and south to Chicago along Lake Michigan got HAMMERED.. twice as much as we got. 20+".

now the polar air bubble moves in, going down to about 10 below F tonight.

pic one, looking at the house from out front.

pic two, my neighbor who I helped dig out starting around 0630 hrs today, just 5 min after we finished the city came by with the plow and proceeded to fill in the mouth of the driveway again.. (cured that from happening again by parking one of the cars out front after I dug my driveway out)

pic three, the sidewalk can wait till later..

At least you got plowed. We're still waiting. We did, however, have one ingenious neighbor hook up a couple of pallets to his truck and pull them down the road. Cleared enough of a path for 1 vehicle to get thru. :icon_thumright:

Oh.. that explains why a truckload of mattresses that I've got coming from Wisconsin to Cincinnati is running a bit late.. They're headed east , into that mess. :toothy5:

being in SW Georgia (sunny 58-60 degrees), all i can say is...ice belongs in a glass of sweet tea! As for snow, that belongs in a Christmas globe that kid's shake up and down...LMAO!

Seriously, I feel for you guys...stay warm, cuddle with your partners, drink plenty of warm beverages and stay positive...(BTW, I used to drive a snow plow in Boston c. 85-89...and have lived in Kansas, Indianapolis and Germany-I feel your pain)... Mark

What happened Kenny, didn't stop at the package store before going home? :aggressive_mini:

If that stuff had hit us we would look like Leningrad in the 40's. How do you people live like this? We had 9 inches and it shut the schools for a week.

My uncle lived in Wausau WI. It got so cold there once that they had to open the stove and sleep in the kitchen. Good thing it wasn't gas.

(In a good voice to make Chico happy) It's 26 degrees in the Rocket City....
