JeffB Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 A friend has a Pro Tube Pro Reverb from 2003. It keeps blowing a T100ma fuse. There is an LED light that is green when the amp is fine and red when there is a problem with v9 and v11.(6L6 power amp tubes) Ive tried replacing the tubes with ones I know work and the fuse Ive replaced a few times but it just blows straight away. What might be the cause and cure? From the owners manual. FUSE V9 & V11 (F1)** - Protects the amplifierfrom damage if the V 9 or V 1 1 tube were to fail. If this fuse fails, replace the tubes in locations V 9 & V11, t h i s fuse, then set the BIAS and B A L A N C E. Owners manual Thanks just trying to sort it out cheaply for a mate

kbp810 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 ...one quick troubleshooting tip you can try Remove the power tubes and replace the fuse - turn the amp back on and see if the fuse still pops. If so... tubes are likely fine, and could be a bad coupling cap or filter cap (since the main fuse is not popping, it doesn't seem to me like it would be a filter cap) If not... could be something along the lines of a bad screen resistor.

JeffB Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Thanks for the tips, I did as said and still went. Above me to fix so off to the tech. Thanks again

Thanks again Taking a quick peek at the schematic Tulk posted... that sounds like a great idea! I would be interested in hearing the outcome when it returns though
